FREE RECORDING PURSUANT TO <br />GOVERNMENT CODE § 27383 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2018 -XX <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE HISTORIC RESOURCES <br />COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA APPROVING <br />HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION APPLICATION <br />NO. 2017-63 TO PLACE THE PROPERTY LOCATED AT <br />918 N. LACY STREET, SANTA ANA, ON THE HISTORICAL <br />REGISTER AND APPROVING HISTORIC REGISTER <br />CATEGORIZATION NO, 2017-62 PLACING SAID <br />PROPERTY WITHIN THE KEY CATEGORY <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The Historic Resources Commission of the City of Santa Ana <br />hereby finds, determines and declares as follows: <br />A. On January 25, 2018 the Historic Resources Commission held a duly <br />noticed public hearing for the placement on the Santa Ana Register of <br />Historical Properties (Historic Resources Commission Application No. <br />2017-63) and categorization (Historic Resources Commission <br />Categorization No. 2017-62) of the Rose House located at 918 N. Lacy <br />Street, Santa Ana. <br />B. The Rose House has distinctive architectural features of the <br />Craftsman/Bungalow style, and was built in 1914. <br />C. The Rose House was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in <br />1999 as a contributor to the French Park Historic District. The Rose House <br />qualifies for listing in the Santa Ana Register of Historical Properties under <br />Key for its exemplification of the distinguishing characteristics of the <br />Craftsman/Bungalow style. Additionally, the house has been categorized <br />as "Key" as a work from notable architect, Frederick Eley, and for its <br />"distinctive architectural style and quality," embodying the massing, <br />materials, and detailing of a Craftsman bungalow in a two-story family <br />residence. Character -defining features of the Rose House that should be <br />preserved include, but may not be limited to: materials and finishes; low- <br />pitched side -facing gabled roof with wide eaves; exposed structural <br />elements such as beams and rafter tails; triangular knee braces; vertical <br />boards with vertical cutouts ending in circles and adding a Swiss touch to <br />the peaks of the gables; wood shingles covering the second floor facade; <br />smaller shingles within the center of the front facade; ribbons of casement <br />windows; 6 -over -1 double -hung windows; single -storied entry portico <br />featuring pairs of exposed beam ends and wide eaves with exposed rafter <br />tails; pairs of wood columns, with slant -cut beams at the top and which <br />EXHIBIT 4 <br />251-54 <br />
