If said employee cashes out his/her eligible sick leave <br />bank balances prior to retirement and subsequently does not retire from <br />City, all future sick leave accrual for said employee shall be subject to the <br />same cash out provision elected and will be processed on the final <br />paycheck. All combined cash outs cannot exceed what the said employee <br />would have been entitled to if the cash out was processed on the final <br />paycheck only. <br />The City Manager is authorized to grant a newly appointed incumbent of a <br />SAMA classification sick leave credits up to an amount equal to any <br />earned but unused sick leave credits available to such appointee at the time <br />of his or her separation from his or her most recent previous employer. <br />10.2 Bereavement Leave. <br />A. An employee shall be granted up to three (3) days leave without loss of pay in <br />case of death of a member of the employee's immediate family. Such leave is <br />designated as bereavement leave. "hnmediate family" as used in this section is <br />limited to: <br />1. Any member of the employee's household related by blood or marriage; <br />2. A parent, parent -in-law, spouse, child, brother, sister, grandparent or <br />grandchild of the employee, regardless of residence•, <br />3. Any other relative of the employee by blood or by marriage where it can <br />be established by the employee that as a result of such relative's death, the <br />employee's presence is required to handle funeral arrangements and/or <br />matters of estate. <br />B. Whenever an employee is required to travel one way more than 500 miles to <br />attend to the death of a member of the employee's immediate family, an employee <br />may use up to sixteen (16) hours of additional leave charged to their Personal <br />Necessity Leave balance when authorized by the Executive Director. <br />10.3 Military. <br />A. Proof of Orders and Reinstatements. An employee shall be granted military leave <br />if he or she furnishes the Executive Director of Personnel Services satisfactory <br />31 <br />
