A. Install master valves as specified on drawings. <br />B. Install master valve wire in a separate conduit and connect to terminal strip at controller. <br />3.8 VALVE BOXES <br />A. Install valve boxes with each type of irrigation equipment so that top of valve box is above finish grade as <br />specified on the detail drawings. Valve box extensions are acceptable for master valve. <br />B. Place gravel sump below and around each valve box prior to installing valve box as specified on the <br />drawings. Place remaining portion of gravel inside valve box allowing full access in and around all <br />fittings. Valve box shall be fully supported by gravel sump. No brick or wood supports are allowed. <br />C. Brand valve box lid of associated equipment as follows: <br />1. Master Valve box lid with: "MV" <br />2. Flow Sensor valve box lid with: "FS" AR" <br />3. Wire Splice box lid with the letters "WS" <br />4. Grounding rod valve box lid with the letters "GR" <br />a) Letter and number size of brand shall be no less than 1" and no greater than 1 1/2" in <br />height and shall be 1/8" maximum in depth. Provide sample branding to The City of <br />Santa Ana authorized representative prior to commencement of work. <br />b) Walk through for substantial completion will not be allowed until all branding is complete. <br />k':IrYDo] rriFAI[oZKeL`W.14111114:19il11 <br />A. Verify electrical power at location of automatic controller unit prior to installation of automatic controller <br />unit. Notify The City of Santa Ana authorized representative immediately if power source is not available. <br />B. Hardwire controller to the on/off switch and existing power source. Controller shall not be plugged into <br />socket provided for other equipment. <br />C. Install automatic controller unit where shown on drawings per manufacturer's specifications. Controller <br />shall be tested with complete electrical connections. The Contractor shall be responsible for temporary <br />power to the Controller for operation and testing purposes. <br />D. Connect flow sensing and master valve wiring to controller unit. <br />E. Install a separate ground wire for each controller unit as specified on the drawings. <br />F. Above ground conduit shall be rigid galvanized pipe with the appropriate fittings. Below ground conduit <br />shall be PVC SCH 80 electrical conduit pipe with appropriate fittings. <br />G. Each automatic controller unit shall be completely operable prior to scheduling a walk through for <br />substantial completion. <br />3.10 ELECTRICAL WIRE <br />A. Water Tight Electrical Connectors: <br />Insulator tube shall be filled with a non hardening insulating gel. <br />2. The splices shall be UL listed for 600 volts maximum <br />3.
