Also address integrity)
The Lund House is architecturally significant as a characteristic example of the English Revival style. This house was
originally constructed in 1929, and was valued at approximately $4,000, according to the original building permit. While there
is no architect or contractor in the original building permit, the original owner is listed as Emmet C. Rogers, a contractor. It
does not appear that Rogers ever lived at the property, as he is recorded as living at 2112 North Greenleaf Street before and
after the date of construction. The first recorded occupants have not been determined, but the second recorded occupants
are Arnold T. and Grace L Lund, who moved to the residence some time before 1934, according to city directories. Both
Arnold and Grace were teachers at Frances Willard Junior High School, where Arnold coached and headed the athletic
department for 33 years (Orange County Register, May 13, 1977). The Lund Athletic Field there was also named in his
honor. Arnold and his wife Grace lived at the property until some time before 1937, when they moved to 826 North Lowell
Street in Santa Ana. The next recorded occupant was Carl J. and Elizabeth G. Eltiste. Carl was a salesman who lived at the
property with his wife Elizabeth until some time before 1949. According to city directories, The next recorded occupants were
John D. and Evelyn V. Hayes. John was the assistant Superindentent for Orange County schools, and Superintendent
thereafter, and he and his wife Evelyn resided at the property until some time after 1966.
(See Continuation Sheet 3 of 3.)
B11.
