Subject: Use and sale of alcoholic beverages
It has come to my attention that the restaurant "El Cortijo Grill" at 413 West Seventeenth
Street, Units 106 and 107 would like to sell alcoholic beverages. I do not agree with this
because the alcohol brings problems, violence, car crashes and aggressive people, I have been
living here in this area for almost 13 years, in the past the community seemed to be very calm
but ever since the restaurant "El Calamar" has started selling alcohol everything started to get
out of hand in this area, when people would get out of the restaurant drunken, there would be
problems like gunshots, cars at full speed without respecting stop signs. Recently there has
been a marijuana dispensary that has closed down, there would be the same problems
everyday in the past when this place was open, high/drunk people yelling at the middle of the
night, gunshots, violence, people trying to break into houses, this is why I strongly disagree
with the sale of alcohol at the corner of my house. I like to help the community, take care of
the neighbors with one another, but the sale of marijuana and alcoholic beverages can not go
on, I do not have a problem with the restaurant in fact the food is very tasty, I just disagree
with the idea of alcoholic beverages, I care for my kids and as do many parents do to in this
community, I think I speak for many when I say, do not sell alcoholic beverages. Have a great
