Dear Mr. Godinez:
As you know, the Orange County Auto Dealers Association has been in dialogue with City staff since
early August on a potential Local Resident Auto Rebate Program. This proposed program is extremely
critical to the franchised auto dealers located in Santa Ana, as it will incentivize local residents to
continue to patronize these dealers after the recently approved 1.5 cent sales tax increase goes into effect
on April 1, 2019.
Item 65C on the Tuesday, November 20 City Council agenda is related to this proposed program and
offers two potential scenarios for such a program. While we appreciate City staff bringing this forward,
the Association and its members still have concerns regarding this issue and, as such, request that the
item be continued to the Council meeting of Tuesday, December 18 to provide an opportunity to
resolve these concerns.
Your consideration of this request is greatly appreciated. We appreciate the opportunity to work with
City staff and your Council on this issue for the benefit of Santa Ana residents.
