Subject: Plans to Build Drive-thru @ 2250 E. 17th Street, Santa Ana, CA
Dear Ms. Bernal:
Seventeenth and Tustin is a great location for an eatery, However, it's a bad idea and I am
totally against construction of a drive-thru restaurant based on the traffic grid-lock I've seen at
other locations with less traffic flow.
Having a drive-thru so close to freeway will cause:
Freeway bottle-neck congestion while waiting to exit 55 Freeway south caused by regular
traffic, drive-thru traffic, pedestrians and signal.
Once exited the 55 Freeway south, it will cause delays trying to reach the corner of 17th @
Tustin which will be held up due to the crawl of the drive-thru line on the right lane. This
would impact vehicles trying to change lanes, to either turn left at Tustin, or move out of the
slow right lane to proceed straight ahead. Vehicles turning right on Tustin will have to either
wait till vehicles in the drive-thru line get on the curb, or switch a lane to move around
(sounds like a possible accident to me)
Traffic flow on 17th & Tustin will be severely impacted in all directions as well as entrances
to the 55 Freeway north and south
More traffic accidents due to vehicles trying to move in and around busy intersection
More traffic and pedestrian accidents due to people dodging cars to cross the street and enter
the restaurant
I live at 17th and Tustin and I know it will be a terrible mistake to create havoc in the normal
flow of traffic. NOT A GOOD IDEA!!!
