Subject:October 20th Council Meeting - Agenda Item 85 C
Hello,
I'm writing to encourage the members of the Council to join Councilman Penaloza and take a stand
alongside the Armenian-American community by denouncing the attacks on Armenians by
Azerbaijan. For over 30 years, the Armenian-American community has been a stable presence in
Santa Ana. The Forty Martyr's Apostolic Church, the Ari Guiragos Minassian School, and the
Armenian Community Center located in Ward 1 attract Armenians from all around Orange County
to Santa Ana on a daily and weekly basis.
Over the last 3 weeks our community has been living a nightmare as we have helplessly watched
Azerbaijan with the support of Turkey and the apparent use of Islamic State mercenaries launch
full-scale attacks against the civilian population of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) and the Republic
of Armenia. Two humanitarian ceasefires have been negotiated and then flippantly violated by
Azerbaijan. Our community is worried about the safety and security of our family and friends in
Armenia. My community and I are calling on you to take a strong moral stance on this issue
without equivocation.
Thank you,
Lori Karaguezian

Subject: Call to Action: Protest and Resolution
Please forward to all members, family and friends.
Սիրելի Orange County-ի Ազգային ղեկավարներ`
To continue our fight against the Azerbaijani and Turkish aggression we in the diaspora need to do anything we
can to help our brothers and sisters in Artsakh and Armenia. We are in a great war for our very survival against
Turkey and Azerbaijan.
We need to keep collecting donations and keep the pressure on local, state, federal government elected and
appointed officials in the US and the international community.
In these efforts I wanted to keep you informed of 2 items and ask that you share with your membership, friends
and family.
Protest at Israeli consulate
The Armenian Youth Federation has organized a Protest tonight 10/19/2020 at 7pm at Israeli Consulate to
protest Israeli Arms Sales to Azerbaijan. The arms sold to Azerbaijan by Israel are being used to bomb
Armenian civilian population of Artsakh and Armenia. The protest will only remain on this issue. We are
not against the people of Israel or those from Israel and not against those of Jewish Faith.
Please see the flyer attached and share on Social media pages.
3
Resolutions
The Armenian National Committee of Orange County has been working tirelessly in submitting and
asking cities in Orange County to pass resolution calling out Turkish and Azeri aggression against
Artsakh and Armenia. Similar resolutions have already passed in LA and Fresno.
One of the cities we are working with is Santa Ana, where our own Armenian Center(Agoump), Ari
Guiragos Minassian Armenian School and Forty Martyrs Armenian Apostolic Church are located.
The Resolution is on Santa Ana’s Council Agenda tomorrow, 10/20/2020 for discussion. Tomorrow they
will discuss and decide to formally adopt the resolution later in November.
I would like to ask you to have anyone who lives and/or has business in Santa Ana to submit a public
comment in support for the resolution being considered.
Two ways to submit public comments:
1) Email ecomment@santa-ana.org by 4pm tomorrow.
2) Joining the City Council meeting
a. Join Zoom meeting by calling
i. 669-900-9128
ii. Meeting ID: 315965149##
iii. Meeting Link:

b. They will be prompted based on the last 3 digits of their phone number to speak in
the order they called in.
c. To be able to speak they will have to join by 5pm to be added to queue for public
comment.

Subject:10/20 City Council Meeting, Agenda 85C - Support our Armenian Community
Hello,
My name is Emily, and I am writing to encourage every member of this Council to join Councilman Penaloza and take a
stand in support of the Armenian-American community by denouncing the attacks committed by Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan
is responsible for launching an unprovoked war on Artsakh - backed by Turkey and foreign jihadists – that has been
intentionally and deliberately targeting civilians.
Left unchecked, Turkey and Azerbaijan (with a combined population of 100 million) will complete the work of the
Armenian Genocide. Armenia is a proud modern democracy of just three million-strong who needs our support and
help. Over the last 3 weeks, the Armenian community has been living a nightmare as they helplessly watched Azerbaijan
with the support of Turkey and the apparent use of Islamic State mercenaries launch full scale attacks against the civilian
population of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) and the Republic of Armenia.
The Armenian community is worried about the safety and security of their family and friends in Armenia. I urge this
council to take a strong moral stance on this issue and serve as a model for how other communities and local councils
can follow in your footsteps. We must support the Armenian community abroad and right here in our backyard and not
allow this injustice to go any further.
Thank you,
Emily Downer

Subject:Support for Resolution Condemning Turkey/Azerbaijan - Agenda Item 85C
Dear Members, Santa Ana City Council:
I am a business owner in the city of Santa Ana.
I strongly support the city adopting a resolution condemning the continuing military assault by Turkey and
Azerbaijan against Nagorno Karabagh (Artsakh) and Armenia.
These barbaric, unprovoked military attacks target civilians and civilian infrastructure and use prohibited
cluster-bombs with a clear desire to commit another genocide against the Armenian people. Turkey has
shamefully recruited and paid terrorist mercenaries to invade Artsakh and endanger the entire Caucasus region
for decades.
In addition to condemning Turkey and Azerbaijan for these war crimes, I urge the Santa Ana City Council to
support self-determination for the people of Nagorno Karabagh and immediately recognize the independence of
Artsakh.
Thank you for your support of human rights, freedom and self-determination of peoples.
Sincerely,
Timothy Jemal

Denounce Azerbaijan
Dear City Council,
As Armenia and Artsakh face a genocidal campaign of race extermination and war crimes orchestrated by
Azerbaijan and Turkey - along with their ISIS allies - America needs to be represented in Armenia. At this time
of great consequence, it’s not too late for you to help stop a second Armenian Genocide.
I’m writing to encourage the members of the Council to join Councilman Penaloza and take a stand alongside
the Armenian-American community by denouncing the attacks on Armenians by Azerbaijan. This
heartbreaking loss of life is horrific.
The Armenian community is worried about the safety and security of their family and friends in Armenia. My
fellow Armenian community members and I are calling on you to take a strong moral stance on this issue
without equivocation. Please!
Sincerely,
Alli Tucker
