Overview
Each city with ward -based elections is required to update (redistrict) the ward
boundaries every ten years, following the receipt of updated population data from each
federal decennial census.
zozo Census Public Law (PL) 94-171 data was released on August 12, 2021, and a
deadline of adopting a map is April 17, 2022
Required by AB 849, the City is required to redistrict the ward boundaries prior to the next election of
Councilmembers in 2022
The official Census data set for use for redistricting will be released within 3odays after
the release of the 2020 Census PL 94-171 data and will include the reallocated prison
population data to the inmate's point of origin as of April 1, 202o required by state law
(AB42o and AB 849)

Approving the revised final draft map and accompanying technical and writing reports.
Final District Boundaries Map —Tuesday, November i6t", 5:45 pm
Adoption of final map and first reading of ordinance by the City Council.
Presentation & Adoption of Final District Boundaries Map —Tuesday, December 7t", 5:45 pm
Adoption of final map and second reading of ordinance by the City Council.
