Re: Proposed 4th & Mortimer Project (409 E and 509 E 4th Street, Santa Ana)
Honorable Mayor Pulido and Honorable members of the City Council:
As long time State Farm Agent in the downtown area of Santa Ana, it is my opinion that this
development will be a boost to our downtown. Having reviewed the proposed plans, I support the
project for the following reasons:
We need to improve the area with quality development and this project helps toward that goal.
A development like this will help ALL downtown businesses. We need investment, jobs,
businesses, sustainability and housing to strengthen downtown. This project will generate a
large private investment and jobs at a time when we sorely need them.
The subject location is in need of freshening up, and will get rid of a long-time vacant block of
land. The streets around the project will be a much nicer place to walk when the project is
done. The building plans are beautiful and visually appealing.
This will serve a second generation of Santa Ana residents who need a place to live.
I have worked closely with the Gonzalez family for almost a decade on our Cal State Fullerton
Hispanic Scholarship Fund and the Santa Ana Tamal Festival. The Gonzalez family has been good
to our city, its non-profits and local business community. Their investments in Santa Ana proves
they are committed to our city and long term growth and prosperity.
I hope you will approve this project for the good of our downtown businesses and our great city.
