Bo 1988, M31 Santa Ana, CA 92701 Re: Support Item 2: Westview Housing Residential Community Dear Members of the Planning Commission: The Kennedy Commission is a broad based coalition of residents and community organizations that advocates for the production of homes affordable for families earning less than $27,000 annually in Orange County. Formed in 2001, the Commission has been successful in partnering and working with jurisdictions in Orange County to create effective policies that has led to the new construction of homes affordable to lower income working families. Ranked among the top ten least affordable metropolitan areas in the country, Orange County is suffering from an affordable housing crisis. The Commission supports Community Development Partner’s Westview Housing Residential Community because it provides affordable housing with larger units, three and four bedrooms, and housing for extremely low-income households. With this project the City and Community Development Partners will provide much needed affordable housing and permanent supportive housing to help meet the City’s lower income housing needs. The Commission looks forward to partnering with the City to increase affordable home opportunities for lower income households in the City. Please keep us informed of any updates and meetings regarding strategies to increase affordable homes for lower income households in the City.
