Subject:#16 Adopt a Resolution for Athletic Facility Reservation Policy
Dear SA City Council,
We write you to urge you to support and vote in favor of the proposed changes to Athletic Facility
Reservation Policy.
The Executive Board of Santa Ana Pony Baseball is in favor of the proposed changes. We have
encountered many struggles to accommodate our youth athletes due to field restrictions. In past years we
have had turn away young boys and girls because we could not secure enough baseball fields. Our goal
as a board is to provide an activity for our youth that teaches them not only the game of baseball, but
many other traits that help them in life.
These proposed changes allow us to change the way things have been done in the past. We believe that
with cooperation we can ALL properly share our fields with all sports and youth and adult sports.

Subject:Proposed Athletics Facility Reservation Policy
As a teacher at Santa Ana High School and coach of the Santa Ana High School Boys Soccer Team I have been
very honored to use the facilities like Santa Ana Stadium for practice and games over the past 10
years. Access to these facilities has greatly enhanced the high school athletic experience for our student-
athletes and it has greatly improved the success of our athletic program which has won over 28 High School
League Championships. The use of the city's Stadium has allowed us to grow our program to work with over
100 student-athletes from Santa Ana High School. As a result, the Santa Ana High School Soccer program can
provide student-athletes, all of whom are residents in the city of Santa Ana, a quality practice facility in which
to train year-round. Besides the obvious benefits to the physical wellbeing of the youth we serve in the city of
Santa Ana, our program also works with students-athletes to pursue high academic achievement and civic
responsibility, including public service through volunteer efforts, high graduation rates, and college
acceptances. Therefore, we are in favor of the proposed "Athletic Facility Reservation Policy" because it
would ensure greater access for the residents of the City of Santa Ana, and the student at Santa Ana High
School to the city parks and recreation facilities.

Good afternoon Mayor Sarmiento and members of the city council,
My name is Alicia Reynoso, resident of the edna park neighborhood in Santana's Ward 3 for over 30 years. I
grew up here and am now raising my kids here. I am writing asking you to support the new parks field
reservation policy. Let me tell you, the athletic fields in Santana have for years been abused by a handful of
corrupt individuals. The city has turned a blind eye to people and some city officials PROFITING off the backs
of Santana taxpayers by sub-letting all of the city's fields for crazy amounts of cash and making it impossible
for Santana kids and actual local leagues be able to use them even on days when they were not occupied.
Growing up, my dad had to drive me to irvine and even coach his santana team there because one or two people
held the keys to the city's fields. Don't continue to let a few people take advantage of our residents. Everybody
should have an equal chance to use our parks fields

city have been allocated for the last 30 years. For the first time in our lifetime, we’ll have the chance to make sure that
our Santa Ana kids and residents have priority over the fields, which is the change we’ve been fighting for for years now.

I spoke in front of the mayor and council members back in 2006. I was a student in favor of SANTA ANA
COLLEGE expanding, specifically the Soccer Fields which I was apart of as studen Athlete. You did the
RIGHT choice then and I'm sure you will make the Right Choice regarding Item #16. I'm a father of a 3 year
old now and it's her time to Shine on those soccer fields.
