Eastside neighborhood since 1997.
Given the disproportionate impact the pandemic has had on low-income families, this
supportive housing will be more needed than ever as we look to rebuild our local economy
and end homelessness in our community.
Projects like this provide stability and hope to our city.

Subject:Item #16- FX Residences
On Tuesday, you will be considering several items as it relates to a residential project on Santa Ana Blvd known as the FX
Residences. As I have stated many times before, permanent supportive housing (PSH) is key in making improvements
with the issues our city sees with regards to those who are struggling to find adequate housing and turn to sleeping on
our streets. Many will focus on providing short term emergency shelter but providing PSH is what will really move
someone from experiencing homelessness into housing security. This is good for our community. The existing use of
that land does not seem to be good for our community and is not providing needed resources.
This project will provide 16 PSH units plus a managers unit along with the space to provide the wrap around services
that those who are formerly homeless need in order to be successful in their journey. I pray that you take this
opportunity to help our community. Some may say that our city has done enough because of the lack of progress made
by some of our neighboring cities. I agree that our neighbors need to do more and that we are making more progress
than they are, but that should not preclude us from doing the right thing on this project. We need to continue to do the
right thing despite our neighbors lack of action.
Please support this project. Please support future PSH projects. Please continue to help those who are struggling to find
the services they need while seeking housing. Please continue to put pressure and encourage other communities to
provide for those who are experiencing homelessness in their own communities- yes, put pressure on other cities to
take major action with regards to their own PSH needs. Our city may be doing a lot, but based on what we see on the
streets, we need to continue to make progress.
Although not related to this particular project, I would also encourage our city to pursue Homekey funding in order to
convert motels in our city into PSH…Yes, I know that we have converted motels into PSH but lets not stop there- we can
do more. Converting motels that many in our community would consider to be eyesores and public nuisances into real
housing for those who are struggling utilizing the funding available seems to be a win-win for the community, our
housed residents, our businesses, our visitors, as well as those who are experiencing homelessness. The need continues
to be great.

I am retired, a registered voter, and a homeowner in Orange County. I have performed
volunteer work for seven decades, ever since my childhood in the 1950s. I was raised by
parents who grew up during the Great Depression and believed strongly in giving back to the
community, especially to our brothers and sisters struggling to survive on the margins of
society.
I support the proposed FX Residences development on East Santa Ana Boulevard, which
would provide 16 high-quality Permanent Supportive Housing units to help end our county's
homelessness crisis. Given the disproportionate impact the pandemic has had on low-income
families, this supportive housing will be more needed than ever as we look to rebuild our local
economy and end homelessness in our community.

multiple centers in Santa Ana. I am a family engagement advocate and we work closely with
our families to provide them with resources. I have struggled to provide families with
resources pertaining to Housing as it is very limited in California, specially for low-income
families such as the ones we work with. This project would mean many children and people in
general would get an opportunity at a better living situation. I've work with many families living
out of garages and on the street or in shelters. This is a very important project that I know is
needed.
