Subject: Proposed Oversight Commission for Police Department, second reading 11/15/22
Dear Mayor and Council;
I would respectfully request that you postpone any action on the above until after the new council is sworn in. This
proposal is quite controversial and will have a major impact fiscally in our city by creating what could easily become a
large bureaucracy to manage. In my view it is a "solution in search of a problem", as SNA is not LA or Detroit or any
number of other cities that have suffered from oversight imposed by Federal agencies.
We have a vigorous accountability program already in place between the Personnel Commission,the Chief,the
Inspector General, ethics panels etc. Let them do their job.
