Dear Mayor Amezcua, Mayor Pro Tem Phan, and Santa Ana City Councilmembers,
I'm writing in support of Item 23 on the 4/16/24 agenda. I live across the street from the train station drop off
point for the shelter. Since launching the pilot program to have security at the train station drop off point, I have
seen a decrease in individuals loitering and making a mess at the train station and in the surrounding areas.
Before the security program was piloted, individuals would sit at the train station all day - I even saw one
person who would set up a hammock on Santa Ana Blvd each day! It's important that the city works to ensure
the quality of life for the neighborhood residents is not impacted by this program and the security program
contributes to this goal. It is not 100% perfect of course, but it is much needed and appreciated in the
neighborhood.
