COMMENTS
PUBLIC COMMENTS
Pat Mill, Ben Grabiel, Vicki Arquello, and George Estrada spoke in
opposition to the proposed Citywide maintenance assessment district;
Desi Reyes spoke in support of the creation of an assessment district.
Robert J. Banuelos addressed the Council relative to proposed cuts at the
Corbin Center and requested that the Community Action Partnership be
asked to assist the City
Debbie McEwen addressed the Council relative to concerns about
fireworks during the upcoming July 4th weekend
Peter Mangusing addressed the Council and asked for assistance and
support in obtaining funds for his karate class to travel to Hawaii
George Collins addressed the Council with concerns relative to the citation
he received from Code Enforcement

CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS
Councilmember Garcia
· Thanked Councilmember Christy for her efforts as the City's
representative on the Orange County Sanitation District Board in
opposing the proposed fee increases
· Asked all residents to use safe fireworks during the July 4th holiday
Councilmember Solorio
· Announced that there would be a homebuyers event held at the
Delhi Center on Saturday, June 21, 2003 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00
p.m. to assist potential homebuyers
· Announced that Dr. Enriqueta Ramos was leaving the Rancho
Santiago College District and moving to Texas.
· Asked property owners to call the Assessment District helpline for
any questions a bout t he proposed assessment district; h e further
asked property owners who did not receive their ballots to notify the
Clerk of the Council
Councilmember Christy
· Asked staff to bring the issue of unauthorized outside dining to the
Neighborhood Improvement and Code Enforcement Council
Committee (NICE) for review
· Encouraged residents to attend the Orange County Sanitation
District public hearing on the proposed fee increases on June 25,
2003

COMMENTS
Councilmember Bist
· Noted that the funding for the all weather turf soccer fields was
coming from grant funds and not the City's general Fund
· Requested that a Council Committee on the City Budget be created
and volunteered to sit on this Committee
· Asked the City Council to adjourn in memory of Roy Rodney
Russell Sr., who made significant contributions to the City of Santa
Ana. His father moved to Santa Ana in 1918, and as a young man,
Roy joined his father to form a building company, Roy Russell and
Sons. Together they built many homes in Santa Aha for about 20
years. Following his father's death, Roy Russell, Sr. built many
custom homes, primarily in the West Floral Park area until he
retired in 1993. Many individuals in Santa Ana can say they live in
a Roy Russell home.
Councilmember Alvarez
· Asked that she be included as a member of the Council Committee
on the City Budget.
· Noted that there appeared to be many misconceptions relative to
the proposed Citywide maintenance assessment district and
encouraged property owners to attend any of the three open
houses on this subject on June 4, 5 and 10, 2003
· Asked residents to keep a close watch on their children during the
summer months and exercise extreme caution around swimming
pools; she also noted that during this time when many children are
out playing, parents should be careful that they do not go in the
middle of streets; she asked all motorists to be particularly diligent
in avoiding pedestrian accidents
· Wished all the City's fathers a Happy Father's Day
Mayor Pulido
· Stated that the proposed maintenance assessment district was an
extremely important issue for the City and encouraged property
owners to cast their ballots
