SANTA AN~. }~JNICIPAL CODE, CORRECTING CHARGES FOR THE INSTALLA-
TION OF ~J,~ATER SERVICE AND MOVING OF ~TERS, PROHIBITING CROSS
CONNECTIONS AND CREATING SERVICE CHARGE
TEE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That Section 7400 of Chapter 4 of Article VII
of the Santa Aha Municipal Code be and the same is hereby amended
to read as follows:
"SECTION 7400. Connection Charges.
"The City shall charge and collect in advance, for each
tap and attachment made with its system of water works as
follows, to-wit: For each 3/4 inch service in new subdivi-
sions, complete, $30.00, for each 3/4 inch service on paved
streets, complete $40.00, for each i inch service, complete,
$50.00, and for all larger sizes of service and all fire
lines, actual costs of labor and material used for the ser-
vice, complete, plus 15 per cent.
SECTION 2. That Chapter 4 of Article VII of the Santa Ana
Municipal Code be and the same is hereby amended by adding a new
Section to be numbered Section 7407.1 to be placed immediately
following 7407.
"SECTION 7407.1.Service Charge.
"There is hereby fixed and established, a monthly service
charge against each water meter and each unmetered service con-
nected with the system of water works of the City of Santa Ana,
at the rate of 50 Cents per month, which is separate, in addi-
tion to, and in no way connected with, water :ates, minimum
water rates, meter rates, flat rates or any other charges pro-
vided for in this Chapter.
"The service charge herein provided for shall be included
on the water statements rendered by the City and shall be pay-
able at the same time that water bills are payable and shall
be delinquent fifteen days after the statement is rendered.
"The water statement and the statement of service charge
due must be paid as one u~it and if any part thereof is un-
paid thirty days after being rendered, the water will be shut
off from the premises and all of the provisions of Section
7407 of this Chapter shall then apply as fully to the service
charge hereby provided for as to any other amount due under
this Chapter.
SECTION 3. That Section 7409 of Chapter 4 of Article VII of
the Santa Ann ~unicipal Code be and the same is hereby amended to
read as follows:
"SECTION 7409. Change of Location.
"Any person desiring to change the location of any water
service that has already been installed shall make application
to the Water Department for such change and said Department,
if in their judgment they deem such change to be necessary or
advisable, will cause such change to be made and the applicant
requesting such change shall become liable to the City for the cost
of all labor and materials used, plus fifteen per cent including
the cost of any heavy cast iron meter box where it be determined
that the installation of the same is necessary. Unless such
charges be paid within ten days of mailing a statement thereof
to the applicant requesting the same, the supply ~f water will
be shut off from the premises and the same shall remain shut
off until all charges, rates or penalties have been paid,
eluding $1.00 for again turning the water on, Said charges are
due upon the completion of the work herein referred to.
SECTION ~o That Chapter 4 of Article VII of the Santa Aha Mu-
nicipal Code be and the same is hereby amended by adding a new Sec-
tion at the end thereof, to be Numbered Section 7419.
"SECTION 7419. Cross Connections Prohibited.
"In order to prevent any pmllution of the water or water

system of the City, no cross-connection, from any source,
of any kind or nature, either with or without backflow pre-
vention units, shall be installed in the City water system."
