NS-146 REPEALING SECTION 3708, REPEALING AND RE-ENACTING CERTAIN SECTIONS OF THE SANTA ANA MUNICIPAL CODE, FIXING SPECIAL SPEED LIMITS AND ADDING A NEW PROVISION ESTABLISHING A SPECIAL SPEED LIMIT ON A PORTION OF EDINGER STREET WHEREA~, heretofore, Sections 3233 and 3235 through 3238, both inclusive, of the Santa Ama Municipal Code have been adopted to es- tablish special speed limits on portions of streets therein named and it is desired to so codify all special speed limits as to set them up in a separate Part of said Code; and WHERW.~.~, an engineering, and traffic investigation of vehicular traffic moving on Edinger Street between Bristol Street and a point 100 feet East of Center Street, indicates that the provisions of the Vehicle Code of the Stal~e of California, fixing a prima facie speed limit of 55 miles per houm, are applicable and that such speed is un- ~afe and constitutes a present and continuous traffic hazard, and the County of Orange Traffic Committee has reached the same conclusion and is recommending to the Board of Supervisors, Shat those portions of Edinger Street between said points which are in the County of Orange, be restricted to a speed limit of 35 miles per hour; NOW, ~HEKEFO~E, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That Sections 3233, 3235 through 3238, both inclu- sive, of the Santa Aha Municipal Code are hereby repealed for the pur- pose of clarifying and simplifying the codil~a~ion of the matter be therein contained and will,/by ~ection 2 hereof, re-enacted and con- tinued in effect. SECTION 2. That the Sections next hereinabove repealed are hereby continued in effect and re-enacted by adding a new Part to Chapter 2 of Article III of the Santa Ana Municipal Code in words and figures as follows: "Part 2. SECTION 3280. Special Speed Limits on Certain Streets. (a) No person shall drive a vehicle at a speed greater than 35 miles per hour on Delhi Road as the same exists in the City of Santa Aha from the East City Limits to the West City Limits of said City. (b) No person shall drive a vehicle at a speed greater than 35 miles per hour on North Flower Street between its intersec- tion with Nemory Lane and its intersection with Santa Ana Boulevard. (c) No person shall drive a vehicle at a speed greater than 35 miles per hour on Grand Avenue between Fruit Street and 17th Street. (d) No person shall drive a vehicle at a speed greater than 35 miles per hou~ on Lincoln Avenue between a point 150 feet South of the centerline of Catalina Avenue and a point 142 feet North of the centerline of Grovemont, which last mentioned point is on the City Limits line. (e) No person shall drive a vehicle at a speed greater than 35 miles per hour on Santa Clara Avenue between its intersection with North Olive Lane and Rosewood Avenue." SECTION 3. That a new Sub-section to establish a special speed limit on Edinger Street as hereinabove set out is hereby added to Section 3280, Part 2, Chapter 2, Article III in words and figures as follows: "(f) No person shall drive a vehicle at a speed greater than 35 miles per hour on Edinger Street between Bristol Street and a point 100 feet East of Center Street." SECTION 4. That Section 3708 of the Santa Ana Nunicipal Code is hereby repealed. SECTION 5. The Clerk of the Council shall certify to the pas- sage of this Ordinance and shall cause the same to be published within 15 days after its adoption, in one issue of the Santa Ana Independent. This Ordinance shall take effect 30 days f~om and after the date of its adoption.
