NS-23h PROVIDING FOR THE HOLDING OF A GENERAL MUNICI~CTION IN THE CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA, ON THE 9TH D~f OF APRIL, 1957, FOR THE ELECTION OF CITY OFFICERS OF SAID CITY, GIVING NOTICE OF SAID ELECTION, DESIGNATING THE POLLING PLACES, THE HOURS DURING ~HIC~ ~E POLLS SHALL BE OPENED, THE 0F- FIGERS TO BE ~ED, AND APPOINTING ELECTION OFFICERS TO SERVE AT SAID ELECTION TEE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF S~TA A~A DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That a general municipal election is hereby called and shall be held in the City of Santa ~-~, County of Orange, State of California, by the qualified registered electors of said City on April 9, 1957. SECTION 2. There shall be 58 voting precincts, 57 of which shall be within the termitorial limits of the City of Santa Aha, consisting of the regular voting precinct or a consolidation of two or more such precincts last established. Precinct No. 58 shall con- sist of th~. portion of the Santa ADa School District, Santa Aha High School District, and Santa Aha Junior College District lying outside the corporate limits of the City of Santa Aha for the purpose of voting only, on the four members of the Board of Education. SECTION 3- That the precinct board cf each precinct shall con- sist of one inspector, one judge, and two clerks; that the consoli- dated voting precincts, the polling places ~ereof, and the election boards for each shall be as set out on that certain document headed "NOTICE OF ELECTION OFFICERS AND POLLING PLACES" on file in the office of the Clerk of the Council, and the boards of each of said consolidated voting precincts are hereby appointed. The Clerk of the Council is hereby authorized to find and appoint substitutes for any election officer hereby appointed that is unable or unwilling to act° Precinct election officers shall receive the following compensa- tion: Inspectors, $20.00; all others $17.00 for their work as such officers; owners of privately owned polling places shall receive the sum of $9.00 for the use of each polling place. SECTION 4- Said election shall be held and conducted in accord- ance with the laws regulating municipal elections in cities of the Sixth Class, and with the general election laws of the State of Calif- ornia, so far as the same msF be applicable thereto. The Polls shall be opened at 7 A. M. on the day of said election, and shall be kept open until 7 P- M. of ssi d day, at which time the polls shall be closed. SECTION 5. The Clerk of the C~uncil shall prepare and cause to be published, a list of the nan es of the nominees in the order in which they appear on the ballot, and the respective offices for which they have been nominated, twice before the day of said election, in the form as required by law. SECTION 6. The Clerk of the Council shall prepare and cause to be printed, official bal lots in the form and number as required by law, and shall procure all other supplies necessary for the holding of said election as required by law. SECTION 7. That said general nn~uicipal election is held to elect the officers to fill the offices for the terms as follows: 1. Three members of the City Council to be nominated from Wards One, Three, and Five and elected by the electors of the City at large, the term of each to begin on April 16, 1957, and to hold of- lice until the second Tuesday of April, 1961. 2. Four members of the Board of Education to be elected at large; the term of each member of the Board of Education to begin on April 16, 1957; the three members elected to the Board of Educa- tion for the full terms to hold office ~til the second Tuesda~ of April, 1961, and the one member elected to the Board o f Education for the shcrt term to hold office until the second Tuesdag of April, 1959. SECTION 8. The Clerk of the Council shall certify to the pas- sage and adoption of this Ordinance and shall cause the same to be published once. This Ordinance shall take effect upon the date of publication.
