FACIE SPEED LIMITS ON EAST SEVENTEENTH STREET,
NORTH BRISTOL STREET, SOUTH BRISTOL STREET,
WEST FIRST STREET
WHEREAS, after engineering and traffic investigations, studies
and reports on those portions of the streets he reinbelow designated,
it appears that a speed greater than 25 miles per hour would facili-
tate the orderly movement of vehicular traffic, and would be reason-
able and safe on some of said streets, and that the prima facie limit
of 55 miles per hour is more than is reasonable or safe on some of
said streets, and the City Council has determined that those prima
facie speed limits hereinbelow set out should be esta'01ished;
NOW, THER~FORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES
ORDAIN AS P~0LLOWS:
SECTION 1. That, under the authority contorted in Section 511.3
of the Vehicle Code of the State of California, Section 3280 of the
Santa Aha lJ!unicipal Code is hereby amended by adding thereto four
new paragraphs immediately following the paragraph designated (g)
in words and figures as follows:
"(h) No person shall drive a vehicle on East Seventeenth
Street at a speed greater th~n 45 miles per hour between McClay
Street and the Atchison, Topeka ~d S~ta Fe railroad tracks,
which lie along the Easterly side of Lincoln Avenue, nor at a
speed greater than 35 miles per hour between s~ d Atchison,
Topeka and Santa Fe railroad tracks and Poinsettia Street.
"(i) No person shall drive a vehicle at a speed greater
th~ 45 miles per hour on North Bristol Street between Memory
Lane and Elm Street, nor at a speed greater tha~ 35 miles per
hour between Elm Street and $~Ven~eenth ~treet.
"(J) No person sh~l d~ve a vehicle at a speed greater
th~ 40 miles per hour on South Bristol Street between a point
400 feet South of Edinger Street and a point 600 feet South of
Delhi Road.
'~(k) No person shall drive a vehicle at a speed greater than
40 miles per hour on West First Street between Townsend Street
and the West City Limits line."
SECTION 2. The Clerk of the Council shall certify to the
passage of this Ordinance snd shall c~nse the same to be published
once within 15 days after its adoption. This Ordinance shall take
effect 30 days from and after the date of its adoption.
