ANA MUNICIPAL C'0DE TO ADD "GENERAL AGRICULTURAL DISTRICT"
TO THE ZONING PROVISIONS OF THE CITY
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That Article IX of the Santa Aha Municipal Code
is hereby amended by amending Section 9102 thereof to read as follows:
"SECTION 9102. Establishing Districts and Limiting the
Uses of Land Therein.
In o~ier to classify, regulate, restrict and segregate the
use of land and buildings, to regulate and restrict the height
and bulk of buildings and to regulate the area of yards and other
open spaces about buildings, several classes of districts begin-
ning with the most restricted classification and progressing to
the less restricted classification and --PK, which may be used
only as a modification of one of the several classes of districts,
are established to be known as follows:
R-1 Single Family Residence District
R-2 Limited Multiple Residence District
R-3 Multiple Family Residence District
P Par~ing and Professional District
A-1 General Agricultural District
O Local Commaercial District
O-1 Neighborhoo~ Commercial District
0-2 General Commercial District
M-1 Manufacturing District
M-2 Industrial District
-PK District Parking Requirement
which said several classes of districts are hereby established,
and which said classifications and districts are and shall be
shown and designated as R-l, R-2, R-3~, P, A-l, C, C-l, C-2, M-l,
M-2, and -PK, which last named designation shall be used only as
a suffix to one of the designations next hereinbefore set out, on
those certain Sheets or Sections numbered consecutively from Sheet
or ~ection No. i of Districting Map of the City.
SECTION 2~. That Article IX of the Santa Aha Municipal Code is
hereby an ended by adding new Sections thereto immediately following Sec-
tion 9107.13 in words and
"SECTION 9107.30.

Uses Permitte~.
Unless otherwise provided in Section 9113 (General Provisions)
and Sections
9114 to 9116 (Variances).
1. Farming, including all types of crop agriculture aha
horticulture, grazing kennels (in accordance with Santa
~,a Municipal Code, Part l, Chapter l, Article IV, and
Amendments thereto) and small animal farms, and similar
types of farming;
Except:
a. Hog and commercial livestock feeding ranches
(Reference Sub-section 7-g).
b. Farms operated publicly or privately for the
disposal of garbage, sewage, rubbish or offal.
2. Parks, Playgrounds an~ Recreation buildings of a public
or quasi-public character, golf coumses, countr-y clubs
and other similar uses.
3. Accessory buildings, structures and uses, including one
(1) unlighted bulletin board or sign, not exceeding an
aggregate area of twenty (20) square feet, bearing offi-
cial notices only or pertaining only t o the sale of agri-
cultural or farm products grown or products or services
rendered upon the premises or advertising only the lease,
hire or sale of only the particular property upon which
displayed.
4. Temporary stands for the sale of agricultural or farming
products grown or produced on the premises, shall be per-
mitted as accessory use upon the following conditions:
a. When place~ for a period of more than ninety (90)
Aays, plans shall be submitted and approved by the
Planning Co~ission.
b. The floor area of stand shall not exceed one
hundred (100) square feet.
c. The owner remove such stand at his expense when
not in use.
d. The stand not to be located closer than twenty (20)
feet to any public highway right of way.

One family dwelling, detached guest cottages and employees'
quarters, all of a permanent character.
Home occupations, offices an~ studios, when conducted with-
in the dwelling by occupants thereof, provided that not more
than one (1) sigm unlighted and not exceeding twelve (12)
square feet in area is displayed in connection therewith.
The following additional uses, subject to the issuance of
conditional permits therefor, as provided, and in accord-
ance with the requirements and procedures in Section 9114
(Variances):
a. Public utility buildings and structures and distri-
bution and transmission sub-stations.
b. Cemeteries, mausoleums and crematories.
c. Mining, quarrying and other earth extraction indus-
tries.
Commercial ~r public airports and landing fields.
e. Private airplane landing fields.
f. Commercial dairies having herds of more than five
(5) head.
Livestock and hog feeding ranches.
Private stables and riding academies.

Egg production,
for whole agricultural products.
candling and sale:
ProAuction of poultry, pigeons and other fowl;
production of rabbits, fish and frogs; slaughtering,
dressing, and sale of these products if produce~,
raised or fattened on the premises, provided:
(1) That any poultry, pigeon or rabbit enclosure,
any slaughtering building or place, be at
least 100 feet from any existing dwelling not
on the premises and at least 200 feet from any
milkim~ or milk handling buildings of a dairy.
Apiaries, upon the following conditions:

"SECTION 9107.31.
1. No occupied hives be closer than one hundred
fifty (150) feet to any street or highway right-
of-way line.
2. No occupied hives be closer than four hundred
(400) feet to any existing dwelling not on the
premises or the premises of another apiary,
unless the written consent of the owner of such
dwelling is secured.
3- No occupied hives be closer than fifty (50)
feet to any property line comon to other prop-
erty lines other

Any other use which is

area shall be Six Thousand (6000) square feet.
"SECTION 9~07.33. Same. Front Yard Required.
Except as provided in Section 9113 (General Provisions) and
Sections 911~ to 9116 (Variances) no building shall be erected
closer t ban twenty-five (25) feet to the right-of-way line of the
street or highway upon which the building fronts.
"SECTION 9107.34. Same. Side Yard Required.

Except as provided in Section 9113 (General Provisions) and
Sections 9114 to 9116 (Variances) no.building or structures shall
be located less than six (6) feet from a side property line.
"SECTION 9107.35. Same. Rear Yard Required.
Except as provided in Section 9113 (General Provisions)
and Sections 9114 ~o9116 (Variances) no building or st~cture
shall be located less than twenty-five (25) feet from a rear
property line."
SECTION 3. This 0rdimance shall take effect 30 days from and
after the date of its adoption.
