VIII 0F THE SANTA~NA MUNICIPAL CODE TO AMEND THE
UNIF0~M PLUMBING CODE, 1955 EDITION
WHEREAS, heretofore the Uniform Plumbing Code, 1955 Edition,
was adopted by reference with amendments by Ordinance No. NS-240,
and it now appears desirable to make certain changes and modifica-
tions thereto;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana does
ordain as follows:
SECTION 1. That Chapter 2 of Article VIII of the Santa Ana
Municipal Code be and the same is hereby amended by amending Section
8206 thereof by the addition after Subsection (d) of a new Subsection
(e), :ha words and figurps as follows:
"(e) A permit for the installation of a water softener may
be granted to any person in the water softener business, and
no State Contractor's License in the field of plumbing shall
be required therefor."
SECTION 2. That Chapter 2 of Article VIII of the Santa Ana
Municipal Code be and the same is hereby amended by amending Section
809 thereof to amend the provision of Section 2.8 of said Uniform
Plumbing Code to read as follows:
"Sec. 2.8-~Issuance of Certificate of Qualification.
Journeyman Plumber's Certificates of Qualification shall
be issued to every person who makes application for such cert-
ificate, pays the required fee and successfully passes the
examination conducted by the Board of Plumber Examiners, p~o-
vided, however, that the Board or Administrative Authority
shall issue such a Certificate to any person who makes appli-
cation therefor, pays the required fee and possesses and pre-
sents to the Board or Administrative Authority a valid Journey-
man Plumber's Certificate of Qualification issued to him by a
Board of Plumber Examiners ~gally constituted in another
jurisdiction."
SECTION 3. That Chapter 2 of Article VIII of the Santa Ana
Municipal Code be and the same is hereby ~nended by adding a new Sec-
-~ tton thereto to be numbered "Section 8220.1" in words and figures as
follows:
"Section 503 of the Uniform Plumbing Code is hereby amended by
amending Subsection (c) thereof to read as follows:
"(c) Changes in direction of vent piping shall be made by
the appropriate use of approved fittings and no such pipe
shall be strained or bent. Burred ends shall be reamed to
the full bore of the pipe. All vents three (3") inches or
less shall use long sweep elbows of durham on all 90o angles."
SECTION 4. This Ordin~ce shall take effect 30 days from and
after the date of its adoption.
