CERTAIN MONEY RESULTING FROM THE SALE OF BONDS APPROVED
BY ~TE ELECTORS IN A SPECIAL ELECTION HELD ON APRIL 9,
1946, TO IMPROVE SA/~TIAGO CREEK, TO THE NEW PURPOSE OF
CONSTRUCTING A BUILDING TO HOUSE ~{E SANTA ANA POLICE
DEPARTNENT
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Ssnta Ana, California,
1958
did on the 28th day of ~arc~, by vote of more than two-thirds of the
members of said Council, adopt Resolution No. 58-85 determining that
the public interest and necessity demanded the construction of a
San ta ~na Police Department;

NOW, T-~EREFORE,
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That a
hereby called to be held,
special election be held, and the same is
at the City of Santa Ana, California, on
the 3rd day of June, 1958, for the purpose of submitting to the qual-
ified voters of said City a proposition to change the purpose for
which the money resulting from the sale of bonds ~oproved by the voters
under a proposition entitled "Bond Proposal No. 4", in the p~incipal
sum of' ~12~,000.00, at a special election held April 9, 1946, to the
new purpose of constructing a building to house the Santa Ana Police
Department.
SECTION 2. The object and purpose of the proposition to be sub-
mitted is to a~thorize the use of all of the proceeds resulting from
said "Bond Proposition No. 4", in the construction of a building to
house the Santa Aha Police Department, and it is not now proposed
that any of said funds shall be used for any other purpose, and it is
anticipated that said funds will not be sufficient to completely con-
st~uct said building.
SECTION 3. That the estimated cost of them~nicipal improvement,
to-wit: The construction of a building to house the Ssnta Aha Police
Department, is ~300,000.00.
SECTION 4. That if the proposition to chmuge the purpose for
which said money resulting from sale of bonds approved by the electors
as herein set out, submitted to the voters as hereinabove provided for,
receives the requisite number of votes, to-wit: two-thirds of the votes
of the qualified electors voting on the proposition, said proposition
shall be declared to have carried and said money shall be used as
specified in said proposition.
SECTION 5. That the polls for said election shall be open from
? o.clock A.DI. to ? o'clock P.~. continuously on the 3rd day of June,
1958, and that said election shall be consolidated with the primary
election held throughout the State on said day.
That on the ballots to be used at said special election, in
addition to any other matters required by law, there shall be printed
substsa tially the following:

INS .TRUCTIONS TO VOTERS
To vote on any measure, stamp a cross (+) in the voting
square after the word "YES" or after the word "NO". All
marks, except the cross ($~) are forbidden. All distinguish-
ing marks or erasures are forbidden and make the ballot void.
If you wrongly stamp, tear or deface this ballot, return it
to the inspector of election and obtain another.
On absent voter's ballots mark a cross (~) with pen or pen-
cil.

in the manner hereinbefore provided shall be counted in favor of the

adoption of the proposition. A c~oss ($) placed in the voting square

counted against the adoption of the proposition.
SECTION 6. That s~ d special election shall be and is hereby
ordered consolidated with the primary election to be held in the City
of Santa Ana on June 3, 1958, that the same shall be conducted in
~l respects as provided for in Resolution No. 58-85, that the pre-
cincts, polling places, and officers of election shall be the same as
those selected and appointed by the County of Orange for said primary
election and as set forth in the Ordinance adopted by the County of
Orange, which said Ordinance is now proposed to be published on May
3rd, 1958, as the first publication date thereof in the Santa Aha
Register.
SECTION 7. The Clerk of the Council is hereby directed to
publish notice of election and notice of proposition to be voted
upon, to be published as required by law.
SECTION 8. This Ordinance, being an Ordinance calling ~
election, shall become effective on the day of its final adoption,
as provided for in Section 417 of the Charter of the City of Santa
Aha.

Ordinance was regularly introduced at a special meeting of said

ered by said Council at its regular meeting held on the 7th day
of April , 1958, and was at said meeting regularly passed and
adopted by said Council by the following vote, to-wit:
