N~-360 ORDERING AND PR 0VIDING FOR A SPECIAL N~UNICI~-~ ELECTION TO BE HELD IN THAT CERTAIN TERRITORY DESIGNATED "WEST SANTA ANA A~VNEX" ON MARCH 10, 1959, FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE VOTERS IN SAID TERRITORY THE Q. UESTION OF ANNEXATION TO THE CITY OF SANTA ANA WHEREAS, heretofore all of the steps necessary for the initia- tion of annexation procedures under the Annexation Act of 1913 have been completed, as required by law, to and including the adoption of Resolution No. 59-14 detailing said procedures and providing for a special election to be held March 10, 1959, for submission to the electors residing in the territory hereinbelow described the question of annexation of said territo~ to the City of Santa Ana; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That a special election is hereby called and ordered to be held on the 10th day of March, 1959, in that certain territory heretofore and hereby designated "West Santa Ana Annex", which said name is hereby declared to be the official name of said territory and the name by ~ich said territory shall be indicated upon the election ballots at said election; and which said terri- tory lies in the County of Orange, State of California, and is described as: Beginning at an a~Mle point in the City boundary of the City of Santa Ana, California, said angle point being the inter- section of the north li~ of Seventeenth Street (80.00 feet wide) aud the easte~y right of way line of the former Newbert Protection Dist~ct Right of Way for the Channel of the Santa Ana River; thence North 89° 15' 40" East ~ cng said north line of Seventeenth Street, and ~long said City boundary 548.75 feet to a point in the northeasterly extension of the monumented center line of King Street and to an angle point in said City boundary; thence northeasterly along the wester- ly boundary of the R~cho Santiago de Santa Aha and along said City boundary to its intersection with the easterly ex- tension of the north li~ of Trask Avenue 20 feet northerly measured at right angles from the center line of said Trask Avenue; thence westerly along said north line and its easterly extension to the west line of ~errydale Street 30 feet west- erly measured at right angles from the center line of said Berrydale Street, and ~ the existing City boundary of the City of Garden Grove, California; thence in a general northerly direction along said City boundary of the City of Santa Ana to the point of beginning. SECTION 2. The proposition to be presented to the electors and to be printed upon the ballots used in s aid election shall be in the following words: Shall the territory designated and knowz~ as "~est Santa Ana Annex" be annexed to the City of Santa Ana? ( ( NO ) ( SECTION 3. The precinct boards shall consist of two judges and one inspector for each polling place. The precincts shall be those determined by the City Council by Resolution, and they shall consist of one or more regular voting precinc~or portions thereof, and the voting places shall be those co~only used for voting with- in the territory, if there is any such place within these special precincts. The election officers in said precincts shall be those -3- named on the document headed "~0TICE OF ELECTION OFFICERS AND POLLING PLACES" to be declared and adopted as to form by the City Co:~ncil by Resolution. The Clerk of the Council is hereby author- ized to find and appoint substitutes for sny election officer named in said document who is unable or unwilling to act. Precinct officers shall receive the following compensation: Each inspector, ~21.00, and each judge, ~18.00, for their work as such officers; owners of privately oWned polling places shall re- ceive the sum of !~9.00 for the use of each polling place. SECTION 4' Said election shall be held and conducted in accordance with the laws regulating municipal elections, the elec- tion code of the State of California insofar as the same are appli- cable to this election, and the Annexation Act of 1913. The polls shall be open at .. ? A.~.~. on the day of said election, and shall be kept open until ? P.N. of said day, at which time the polle shall be closed. SECTION 5. The Clerk of the Council shall cause to be pub- lished a NOTICE OF ELECTION at least once a week for four weeks prior to March 10, 1959, in a newspaper of general circulation printed snd published outside of the City of Santa Ana, but in the County of Orange, and a NOTICE OF ELECTION OP~'ICERS AND POLLING PLACES shall be published~kla-'~e~t least a week apart, the ~ast. i publication to be completed prior to March $, 1~59, in a newspaper meeting the requirements set out above. SECTION 6. This Ordinance shall take effect upon the date of publication. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of S~ata Ana at its regular meeting held on the 19th day of January, 1959.
