Adoption of the A~ninistrative Electrical Code. ±~ere is hereby adopted by the City of Santa Aha, California, for the purpose of requiring permits for, and prescribing rules and regulations governing, electrical installations and wiring in the City of Santa Aha, that certain code kno%~ as the "Orange County Administrative Electrical Code 1959% and the whole thereof save and except such portions as are hereinafter amended or deleted, of which Code not less than 'three (3) copies have been and now are on file in the office of the Clerk of the Council of the City of Santa Aha, and 'the s~ne Electrical code is hereby adopted and incorporated as fully as if set forth at length herein, as provided for in Section 419 of the Charter of the City of Santa Aha, and from the date on which this Ordinance shall take effect, the provisions thereof, subject to the amen~nents and deletions hereinafter set forth, shall be controlling within the limits of the City of Santa Ana, and this Code shall be known as the "A~ainistrative Electrical code of the City of Santa Aha". SECTION 2. That Section S301 of Chapter 3, Article VIII of the Santa Ana ~unicipal Code is hereby enacted to read as follows: Section ~301. Definitions. (a) %~enever the term "Bcard of Supervisors" is used in the said "Orange County Administrative Electrical code - 1959", it shall be held to mean the City Council of the City of Santa Ana. (b) ¥~enever the terms "County of Orange" or "Orange County" are used in said code, they shall be held to mean the City of Santa Aha. -1- (c) %~enever the term "Superintendent of Building and Safety" is used in said Code, it shall be held to mean the Director of ~uilding Safety of ~he City of Santa Ana. (d) 5~enever the terms "Electrical Inspection Depart- ment~ and/or "glectrical Inspection Division'~ are used in said Code, they shall be held to mean Department of ~uilding Safety and l{ousing of the City of Santa Aha. (e) %Jnenever the term "Unincorporated Area" is used in said Code, it shall be held to mean Incorporated ~%rea. (f) ~henever the tem~ "County Clerk" is used in said Code, it shall be held to mean the Clerk of the Council of the City of Santa Ana. SEC~IO~ 3. ~i~at Section ~302 of Chapter 3, Article VIII of the Santa bna i~nicipal Code is hereby enacted to read as follows: Section ~302. Electrical code Adopted. A~aencLment. '£he amendment to said Electrical Code referred to in Section ~300 of this part and vXnich is'hereby made to said Electrical code is as follows: ~z~hat Section 2 of said "Orange Countk~ Ada~inistrative ~lectrica! Code - 1959" be, and the same is, hereby amended to read as follows: ~he city of Santa Aha herebI, elects not to create or organize an5" Board of 7~laminers for the purpose of ining and issuin%, certificates to sicken electricians, maintenance electricians, journeyman electricians or any other class of electricians other than ilaster Electricians, and in this regard, the City does herebl declare that any individual employed by a ~iaster Electrician %~o is a bona fide possessor of a valid certificate of competency issued bl~ the P, oard of Examiners of the County of Orange quali- fyin% the holder of such certificate to wor~ at the 'trade or cal!in<-~ of electrician for salary or wa.~es, but does not furnish anI materials or sup~ties in 'the e×ecu- tion of his wor~ , will be recoc3nized in tile same capacity and class of electricians and upon the same certificate in the Citl, of Santa Aha so lonS as such ~oerson continues to hold such certificate and the same has not been revoked or s~.s?ended; provided, however, that the Countl, of ©range as s?ecified in this Section snail mean the countl: of Oran{~e, in the State of california, and not the City of Santa 3~na as defined ]3y Section 5301, st~bsection (b). S~Cl'IOl}li 4. ~±5lah Section 2305 of mhapter 3, ~rticle Viii of the Santa Ana ilunicipal Code is herebl enacted to read as follows: Section 3303. Electrical Code Adopted. Deletions. ~he deletions from said Electrical code referred-to in Section ~300 of this ~art and ~nich are hereby made from said Electrical Code are the fo!lowing: 1. Delete subsection (g) of Section 13 pertaining to trailer park wiring. 2. Delete Sections 24 and 25 of said Electrical Code. SECTION 3. 'l~at Sections 3303, 8306, 8309, $310 and L311 of Chapter 3, Article VIII of the Santa Ana ~4unicipal Code are hereby repealed; and that all other motions, resolutions, ordinances and sections of the Santa Ana ~lunicipal Code and parts thereof inconsis- tent herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency and no further. SECTiO: 6. 'i~at this Ordinance shall take effect 30 days from and after the date of its adoption.
