HomeMy WebLinkAboutNS-755ORDINANCE NS-755 PROVIDING FOR THE HOLDING OF A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION ON NOVFJVIBER 3, 1964, FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE VOTERS QUESTION RAISED BY Pd~FERENDUM PETITION AS TO WHETHER ORDINANCE NS-729 SHALL BECOME EFFECTIVE W~EREAS, heretofore, the Santa Ana City Council adopted Ordinance NS-729 and thereafter a Referendum Petition was duly filed through the Clerk of the Council requiring that said Ordinance be repealed or submitted to a vote of the electors of the City. Said Ordinance changed the District classification of territory lying north of Seventeenth Street and east of Santiago Street from the R-1 (Single Family Residence District) to the R-4 (Suburban Apartment District); and WHEREAS, the City Council thereafter ordered that a propo- sition be submitted to the electors at a special municipal election so that they might vote whether said Ordinance should become effective. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1: That a Special Municipal Election is hereby called and shall be held in the City of Santa Aha on the 3rd day of November, 1964; that the proposition to be placed upon the ballot and submitted to the electors of the City shall be in words and figures as follows: Shall Ordinance NS-729 changing territory : therein described from the R-1 (Single : Family Residence District) to the R-4 : (Suburban Apartment District) be adopted : to become effective in the City of : Santa Aha? : YES : : NO : : Said election shall be in all events held and conducted as provided for in Resolution 64-118. If a majority of the voters voting on said proposition place a cross to the right of the word "YES" upon said ballot, said Ordinance shall be in effect and the zoning in said territory shall be changed. If ~ majority of the voters voting on said proposition place a cross to the right of the word "NO" following said proposition, said Ordinance shall not be in effect and for a period of one year after no similar zone change may be made affecting said territory. SECTION 2: That said Resolution 64-118 requested consolidation of said Special Election with the State-wide General Election and said request is hereby reaffirmed. SECTION 3: That this Ordinance, being an ordinance calling and otherwise relating to an election, shall take effect upon the date of its publication.
