CANVASS OF THE RETURNS OF THE ELECTION IN THE
TERRITORY KNOWN AS "SANTA CLARA AND TUSTIN
N. W. ANNEXATION" AND APPROVING THE ANNEXATION
OF SAID TERRITORY TO THE CITY OF SANTA ANA
WHEREAS, heretofore a petition was presented to the City Council
requesting that certain territory herelnbelow described be annexed
to the City of Santa Ana under the provisions of the Annexation Act
of 1913, and the City Council, on June 1, 1964, adopted Resolution
64-84 expressing its consent to the commencement of proceedings under
said Act; and
WHEREAS, thereafter a notice of intention to circulate a
petition for said annexation was regularly published, affidavit of
publication was filed with the Clerk of the Council and, on June 15,
1964, the City Council adopted Resolution 64-90 acknowledging receipt
of said affidavit of publication and accc~apanying documents and
approving the circulation of the petition for annexation; and
WHEREAS, thereafter a petitionwas regularly circulated and
filed with the City Council representing more than one-fourth of
the qualified electors residing within said territory, and on
July 6, 1964, the City Council adopted Resolution 64-102 declaring
intention to call a special election in said territory on the
question of annexation and fixing the day and hour for filing and
hearing of protests to said election on the part of owners of
property within said territory; and
WHEREAS, at 7:30 P.M. of the 3rd day of August, 1964, the day
and hour so fixed, no protest had been filed and no person was there
present to file any written protest or speak against said annexation,
and the City Council then adopted Resolution 64-114 declaring that a
majority protest had not been made against the election or the
annexation of said territory; and thereafter said City Council
adopted Resolution 64-117 calling a special election to be held in
said territory on October 13, 1964, which said Resolution made all
provisions for the holding of said election and which said election
was regularly held on said date.
NOW, rfHEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA
DOES OR~AINAS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: That a special election was regularly held on the
13th day of October, 1964, after due and regular proceedings and on
proper notice, within the territory hereinbelow described; that the
votes cast thereat were duly and regularly canvassed and the returns
thereof were made at the time and in the form and manner required
by law; that one absent voter ballot was cast and was duly canvassed
and counted as required by law; that the City Council has duly
canvassed the returns of said election and from said returns and
canvass it appears, and this Council finds, that the proposition or
measure submitted to the vote of said electors was in words as
follows:

that the total number of votes cast at said election was fifteen (15),
including one absent voter ballot; that fifteen (15) votes were
cast in favor of said proposition and that no votes were cast against
said proposition; that there was only one voting precinct in said
territory; that said canvassing took place at the first regular
meeting of said City Council held at least three days after said
election in the Council Chambers of the City Hall of Santa Aha on
October 19th, 1964.
SECTION 2: That the territory designated "SANTA CLARA AND
TUSTIN N. W. ANNEXATION" was contiguous to the City of Santa Aha,
was in the County of Orange, State of California, and was described
as follows:
Beginning at the intersection of the South line of Santa
Clara Avenue with the West line of Tustin Avenue said point
being 25.00 feet South and 30.00 feet West of the Southwest
corner of Lot 5 in Block "B" of the A. B. Chapman Tract as
surveyed by Frank Lecouvreur in December, 1870 and shown
on a map thereof recorded in Book 102, page 15, Miscellaneous
Maps, Records Of Orange County, California, said point of
beginning being on the point of beginning of the description
of the land annexed to the City of Santa Aha August 5, 1963,
by Ordinance NO. NS-682; and running thence North 0° 53' 22"
east, 685.00 feet along said NS-682 boundary and along the
West line of Tustin Avenue to the Westerly extension of the
North line Of the South One-half (S.½) of said Lot 5, said
West line being 30.00 feet Westerly measured at right angles
from the center line of Tustin Avenue; thence continuing
along said NS-682 boundary South 88° 57' 07" East 1,350.30
feet along said Westerly extension and along said North line
to a point on the East line of said Lot 5 and to a point in
the Tustin city boundary as established by Tustin City
Ordinance No. 145; thence departing from said Santa Aha city
boundary and running along said Tustin city boundary North
0° 53' 22" East, 660 feet, more or less, along the East line
of said Lot 5 to the Southeast corner of Lot 16 of Tract
No. 2989 as shown on a map thereof recorded in Book 89,
page 1, Miscellaneous Maps, Records of said Orange County;
thence departing from said Tustin city boundary and running
North 88° 57' 09" West, 1,350.82 feet along the South line
of said Tract No. 2989 and along the South line of Lot 4,
Block "B", in said A. B. Chapman Tract, and its Westerly
extension to a point in the West line of Tustin Avenue, said
West line being 30.00 feet Westerly, measured at right angles
frOm the center line of Tustin Avenue; thence along said West
line South 0° 53' 22" West 145 feet, more or less, to a point
in the North line of Lot 8, Block "A", said A. B. Chapman
Tract; thence along the North line of said L~t 8 Westf. 804.57
feet to the Northwest corner of the East One half (E.~; of
said Lot 8, and to a point in the existing Santa Ana city
boundary as established by Ordinance No. NS-576; thence
along said NS-576 boundary and along the West line of the
East One-half (E.½) of said Lot 8 and its Southerly extension
South 0° 10' 15" East 1,225 feet, more or less, to the South
line of Santa Clara Avenue, said South line being 25 feet
Southerly, measured at right angles from the center line of
Santa Clara Avenue, and to an angle point in the existing
Santa Ana city boundary as established by Ordinance No.
NS~664; thence along said NS-664 boundary the next six
courses; East 550 feet, more or less, along said South line
of Santa Clara Avenue to a point that is 298.00 feet West
and 25.00 feet South of the Northeast cornsr of Lot 9 of
said Block "A"; thence South 0~ 04' 24" West 175.00 feet;
thence South 44° 55' 36" East 35.36 feet; thence South 89°
55' 36" East 23.00 feet; thence South 0° 04' 24" West 564.81
feet; thence South 89~ 43' 55" East 228.00 feet to the West
line of Tustin Avenue, said West line being 30.00 feet

Westerly, measured at right angles from the center line of
Tustin Avenue, and to a point in the Santa Ana city boundary
as established by Ordinance No. NS-468; thence North 140 feet,
more or less, along said West line of Tustin Avenue and along
said NS-468 boundary to an angle point in said NS-468 boundary,
said angle point being on the Westerly extension of the South
line of the North One-half (N.½) of Lot 12 in said Block "B";
thence along said Westerly extension and along said South
line and along said NS-468 boundary South 88° 57' 48" East
657.00 feet to an angle point in the Santa Ana city boundary
as established by Ordinance No. NS-606, and to a point in a
line that is parallel with and 30.00 feet Westerly, measured
at right angles from the West line of the East One-half (E.½)
of Lot 12, Block "B" of said A. B. Chapman Tract; thence
along said NS-606 boundary and along said parallel line North
0° 53' 22" East 635 feet, more or less, to a point in the
South line of Santa Clara Avenue, said South line being
25 feet Southerly, measured at right angles fr~ the center
line of Santa Clara Avenue, and to an angle point in said
NS-606 boundary; thence North 88° 57' 07" West 663 feet, more
or less, along said South line of Santa Clara Avenue, and
along the Santa Ana city boundary as established by Ordinance
NO. NS-682 to the point of beginning.
SECTION 3: That as the result of said canvass the City Council
hereby finds and declares that a majority of the votes cast were for
annexation of said territory to the City of Santa Ana, and said
territory is hereby declared to be annexed to and to be a part of
the City of Santa Aha, California, and of Ward 1 in said City; that
said territory shall not be taxed to pay any indebtedness of the
City existing at the time of this annexation, and, for the purpose
of tax segregation for this territory the designation that applies
is "Santa Ana City--1957 and 1958 Annexes".
SECTION 4: That this Ordinance shall take effect thirty days
from and after the date of its adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa
Aha at its regular meeting held on the 2nd day of November, 1964.

said City held on the 19th day of October, 1964, and was again con-
sidered by said Council at its regular meeting held on the 2nd day
of November, 1964, and was at said meeting regularly passed and
adopted by the following vote, to wit:
