SANTA ANA MUNICIPAL CODE TO ADD A NEW SUB-
SECTION (b) AND REDESIGNATE EXISTING SUBSECTIONS
(b) THROUGH (m), AND AMENDING SECTIONAL DISTRICT
MAP 1-5-10 TO MODIFY THE BOUNDARY LINE OF HEIGHT
DISTRICT II
WHEREAS, after public hearings before the Planning Commission
and the City Council, on due notice, it has been determined that to
enable theklogical and orderly growth and development in the area of
Broadway and Santa Clara Avenue it is necessary to establish a
setback line on Broadway and to modify the Height District boundary
line between Main Street and Broadway, north of Santa Clara Avenue.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA
DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: That Section 9270 of Chapter 2, Article IX, of
the Santa Aha Municipal Code is hereby amended by adding thereto a
new subsection (b) and redesignating the existing subsections (b)
through (m), both inclusive, to read as follows:
SECTION 9270. Setback Lines Established.
Setback Lines along the following streets and portions of streets
in the City are hereby established and re-established, between which
Setback Lines and which streets, respectively, no person shall erect
or move in any building, structure or thing, except that the con-
struction or maintenance of a wall, fence or hedge of no more than
four (4) feet in height between a Setback Line and the street line
shall not be prohibited by this Section if it complies with other
provisions of this Code.
The Setback Lines are located and described as follows:
(a) North Broadway, on both sides, from Tenth Street to Santa
Clara Avenue, 55 feet from and at right angles to the survey
center line of said street.
(b) North Broadway, on the east side, from Santa Clara Avenue
to the Southern Pacific Railroad, 100 feet from and at right
angles to the survey center line of said street.
(c) North Flower Street, on both sides, from the North line of
Tract No. 748 to the South line of Santa Clara Avenue, 80
feet from and at right angles to the survey center line of
said street.
(d) West Seventeenth Street, on the North side, from Bristol
Street West to a point 138.71 feet East of the survey center
line of Aloha Street, 140 feet North of and at right angles
to the survey center line of Seventeenth Street; and on the
North side, from Bristol Street to Baker Street, 60 feet
from and at right angles to the survey center line of
Seventeenth Street.
(e) West First Street, on the North side, between Main Street
and Townsend Street, 42 feet from and at right angles to the
survey center line of First Street; on the South side between
Main Street and Daisy street, 42.feet from and at right angles
to the survey center line of First Street; on the North side
between Townsend Street to the Santa Aha River, 55 feet from
and at right angles to the survey center line of First Street;
on the South side between Daisy Street and the Santa Aha
River, 55 feet from and at right angles to the survey center
line of First Street.
(f) North Ross Street, from Nineteenth Street to Santa Clara
Avenue, on both sides, 65 feet from and at right angles to
the surveyed center line of Ross Street.

(g) Bristol Street, on both sides, from the Santa Ana Freeway to
Fifth Street, and from Fourth Street to Warner Avenue, 40 feet
frOm and at right angles to the survey center line.
(h) Cypress Avenue, on both sides, frOm Goetz Avenue to an unnamed
street on the South, a distance of approximately 400 feet,
30 feet frOm and at right angles to the survey center line of
Cypress Avenue.
(i) Euclid (Verano) Street, on the East side, between the South
line of proposed Lehnhardt Avenue and a point 210 feet North
of the center line of Edinger Avenue, 110 feet from and
measured at right angles to the surveyed center line of Euclid
(Verano) Street.
(j) Edinger Avenue, on the North side, between a point 207 feet
East of the surveyed center line of Euclid (Verano) Street and
a point 520 feet East of the surveyed center line of Euclid
(Verano) Street, 120 feet from and measured at right angles to
the surveyed center line of Edinger Avenue.
(k) McFadden Avenue, on the North side, between a line parallel
with and 252 feet East of the center line of proposed Fairview
Street,and a line parallel with and 650 feet East of the center
line of proposed Fairview Street, 210 feet from and measured
at right angles to the center line of McFadden Avenue.
(1) Fairview Street, on the East side, between a line parallel to
and 254 feet North of the center line of McFadden Avenue and a
line parallel to and 1,320 feet North of the center line of
~cFadden Avenue, 210 feet from and measured at right angles to
the center line of Fairview Street.
(m) Fairview Street and Warner Avenue, Southeast corner, described
as: On the East side of Fairview Street, beginning at a point
210 feet South of the center line of Warner Avenue and
extending Southerly 780 feet from the center line of Warner
Avenue, said Setback Line being measured 259 feet East of and
at right angles to the center line of Fairview Street; and on
the South side of Warner Avenue beginning at a point 210 feet
East of the center line of Fairview Street and extending
Easterly 780 feet from the center line of Fairview Street,
said Setback Line being measured 259 feet South of and at right
angles to the center line of Warner Avenue.
(n) Lehnhardt Avenue, on the South side, between the East line of
Euclid Street and a point 520 feet East of the surveyed center
line of Euclid Street, 55 feet from and at right angles to the
surveyed center line.
SECTION 2: That Sectional District Map 1-5-10 is hereby
amended to change the boundary line of Height District II to a point
237 feet westerly (100 feet east of the center line of Broadway)
between the center line of Santa Clara Avenue and the Southern Pacific
Railroad.
SECTION 3: That this Ordinance shall take effect thirty days
from and after the date of its adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa
Ana at its regular meeting held on the 18th day of January, 1965.
