HomeMy WebLinkAboutNS-1012ORDINANCE NS-1012 AMENDING THE SANTA ANA MUNICIPAL CODE BY REPEALING AND RE-ENACTING SECTIONS 8-40, 8-41, AND 8-42 THEREOF RELATING TO THE CREATION OF AND BOUNDARIES OF FIRE ZONES THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1: That Division 1 of Article II, Chapter 8 of the Santa Ana Municipal Code is hereby amended by repealing and re-enacting Sections 8-40, 8-41, and 8-42 to read in words and figures, as follows: Sec. 8-40. Fire Zones--Created. The entire incorporated area of the city is established as a fire district, and said fire district is divided into three (3) zones to be designated as fire zones 1, 2, and 3. Fire zone 1 and fire zone 2 shall contain territory as set out in sections 8-41 and 8-42, respectively, and fire zone 3 shall include all territory within the city which lies outside of fire zones 1 and 2. The city council officially adopts that certain map entitled "Fire Zones of the City of Santa Ana, california, --1970," and the clerk of the council is directed to file the same for public inspection and reference. Said map and the descriptions of fire zones 1 and 2 are established and shall regulate the typ~ of buildings permitted within their respective areas and shall have the restrictions as provided for in the Uniform Building Code in effect within the city and shall have application wherever any or dinance of the city shall refer to the fire zones of the city. Sec. 8-41. Same--Fire zone 1 boundaries. All the real property within the city lying within the exterior boundary lines set out in this section shall constitute Fire Zone 1 of the city: Beginning at the southeast corner of 17th and Bush and running northerly to the southeast corner of Bush and Santa Clara; thence along the northerly boundary of the Santa Ana Freeway property to a point halfway between Main and Bush; thence north to the north city limits line east of Main;thence west to the east side of North Main; thence north to the north city limits line west of Main; thence westerly along the northerly city limits to the point of intersection with the east side of the Santa Ana Freeway; thence west across the Santa Aha Freeway to the west Freeway boundary; thence south- easterly along the west boundary of the Freeway to the west side of Broadway; thence south to the northwest corner of Broadway and Santa Clara; thence west to a point 175' west of Broadway; thence south to the north side of 10th; thence west in a straight line to the west side of Ross; thence south to a point 155' north of the north side of civic Center Drive; thence west in a straight line to the west side of Flower; thence south to the northwest corner of Civic Center Drive and Flower; thence west to a point 50' east of the northeast corner of Civic Center Drive and Westwood; thence south to a point 106' east of the southeast corner of civic Center Drive and Shelton; thence south to a point on the north side of 6th; thence to the southwest corner of 6th and Shelton; thence south to the southwest corner of 4th and Shelton; thence east to the southwest corner of 4th and Parton; thence south to the southwest corner of 3rd and Parton; thence east to the southwest corner of 3rd and Ross; thence south to the southwest corner of 2nd and Ross; thence east to the southwest corner of 2nd and Birch; thence south to the southwest corner of 1st and Birch; -1- thence east to the southwest corner of 1st and Broadway; thence south to the southwest corner of Walnut and Broadway; thence east to the southwest corner of Walnut and Sycamore; thence south to the southwest corner of Chestnut and Sycamore; thence east to the southeast corner of Chestnut and the alley running north and south between Main and Cypress; thence north to the southeast corner of 1st and said alley; thence east to the southeast corner of 1st and French; thence north to the south- east corner of 3rd and French; thence east to the intersection of the south line of 3rd with the southerly prolongation of the west line of Mortimer; thence north along the southerly prolongation of the west line of Mortimer to a point halfway between 3rd and 4th; thence east to the east side of Lacy; thence north to the northeast corner of the intersection of Lacy with an alley running east and west between 4th and 5th; thence west in a straight line to the east side of Mortimer; thence north to the northeast corner of 5th and Mortimer; thence west to the northeast corner of 5th and French; thence north to the northeast corner of 6th and French; thence west to the northeast corner of 6th and Spurgeon; thence north to the north- east corner of Spurgeon and the alley running east and west between llth and 12th; thence to the northeast corner of Bush and said alley; thence north along the easterly ~ide of Bush to the point of beginning. Fire Zone I of the City shall include a second and separate area beginning at a point 125' west of the west side of Main on the north side of West Edinger; thence in a straight line to the north side of Pomona; thence to the northwest corner of Broadway and Pomona; thence to the southwest corner of Broadway and Commercial; thence east in a straight line to a point 125' west of the west side of Main; thence south to the south side of West St. Andrews; thence to a point 125' east of the east side of Main and East St. Andrews; thence north in a straight line to the north side of East Edinger; thence west to the point of beginning. Sec. 8-42. Same--Fire zone 2 boundaries. All the real property within the City lying within the exterior boundary lines set out in this Section shall constitute Fire Zone 2 of the city: Beginning at a point 175' west of the west line of Broadway and 125' north of the north line of 17th; thence west in a straight line to the Santa Ana River; thence following along the Santa Aha River to a point thereon 200' south of 17th; thence east in a straight line to a point 175' west of Broadway; thence north to the point of beginning. Beginning again at a point on the boundary of Fire Zone 1 which is 125' north of the northwest corner of 5th and Shelton; thence in a straight line to the west side of Bristol; thence south to the northwest corner of 5th and Bristol; thence west to a point 210'!west of the northwest corner of 5th and Bristol; thence south in a straight line to a point 122' north of First; thence west in a straight line to the west side of Raitt; thence south to a point 125' south of the southwest corner of First and Raitt; thence east in a straight line to the west side of Pacific; thence south to the southwest corner of Pacific and Walnut; thence east to a point 150'~east of the southeast corner of Walnut and Bristol; thence north to a point 135' north of Walnut; thence east in a straight line to the west side of Birch; thence to the southwest corner of Walnut and Birch; thence to the southwest corner of Walnut and Broadway; thence to the southwest corner of Chestnut and Broadway; thence to a point on Chestnut 125' west of the west side of Main; thence south in a straight line to the -2- north side of Edinger; thence to a point 125' east of the east side of Main Street; thence north in a straight line to the south side of Chestnut; thence to the southeast corner of Cypress and Chestnut; thence to the southeast corner of Pine and Cypress; thence to the southeast corner of the intersection of Pine with the alley running north and south between Orange and Maple Streets; thence north along the alley to the south side of Walnut; thence to the southeast corner of Walnut and Cedar; thence to the northeast corner of First and Cedar; thence to the northeast corner of First and Garfield; thence to the north- east corner of 6th and Garfield; thence to the northeast corner of 6th and French; thence north along the east side of French to the north side of Washington; thence to the northeast corner of Washington and Spurgeon; thence north along the east side of Spurgeon to a point 125' south of 17th; thence in a straight line to the west side of Lincoln; thence south to a point 200' from the south side of 17th; thence to the east city limits; thence following the northeast boundary of the city limits to the intersection of the south line of 17th with the southerly prolongation of the west line of Tustin Avenue; thence following along Tustin Avenue to a point 200' north of the north side of 17th; thence in a straight line to the west side of Lincoln; thence to a point 125' north of the north side of 17th; thence to a point 125' north of the northeast corner of 17th and Bush at the boundary of Fire Zone 1; thence in a southerly direction around the boundary of Fire Zone 1 to the point of beginning 125' north of the northwest corner of 5th and Shelton. Beginning again at a point on the boundary of Fire Zone 1 which is 125' west of the west side of Main and St. Andrews; thence southerly in a straight line to the northerly side of the Pacific Electric right of way; thence northeasterly along the Pacific Electric right of way to the east side of Main; thence south along the east side of Main to Dyer; thence east to a point 125' east of Main; thence north in a straight line to the south side of St. Andrews at the boundary of Fire Zone 1; thence west to the point of beginning. SECTION 2: That this Ordinance shall take effect thirty days from and after the date of its adoption. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa Ana at its regular meeting held on the 4th day of May, 1970.
