9 OF THE SANTA ANA MUNICIPAL CODE BY AMENDING
SECTION 9-135 THEREOF PERTAINING TO HOLIDAYS
WI{EREAS, the Federal Government and the State of california
have adopted legislatiOn which will provide for certain holidays
to be celebrated on a specified Monday rather than the traditional
holiday date; and
WHEREAS, it is recommended that the city of Santa Ana adopt
similar legislation;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA
DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: That Article VI of Chapter 9 of the Santa Ana
Municipal code is hereby amended by amending Section 9-135
thereof to read in words and figures, as follows:
Sec. 9-135. ~olidays--Re~ular Employees.
Legal holidays observed by city employees shall be
January 1, the third Monday in February in memory of
George Washington's birthday, the last Monday in May in
commemoration of Memorial Day, July 4, the first Monday
in September, the fourth Monday in October in observance
of Veterans' Day, December 25, Thanksgiving Day and every
day proclaimed by the Mayor as a holiday for city
employees. Any holiday which falls on Sunday will be
observed on the following Monday. Any holiday which
falls on a Saturday shall be observed in accordance with
a schedule to be determined by the department head in
order to allow public offices to remain open on ~e Friday
preceding the holiday.
SECTION 2: That the provisions of this Ordinance shall be
in effect from and after the first day of January, 1971.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa
Ana at its regular meeting held on the 19th day of October, 1970.
