ORDINANCE NO. NS-1429
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA
APPROVING AMENDMENT APPLICATION NO.
791 TO REZONE PROPERTY LOCATED AT 601 SO.
NEWHOPE STREET FROM THE A1 (GENERAL AGRI-
CULTURE) DISTRICT TO THE R2 (MULTIPLE FAM-
ILY RESIDENCE) DISTRICT AND AMENDING SEC-
TIONAL DISTRICT MAP NO. 16-5-10
WHEREAS, the real property located at 601 So.
Newhdpe Street, at the northeast corner of Acapulco Avenue
and Newhope Street, in the City of Santa Ana and more par-
ticularly described infra, is located within the A1 (Gen-
eral Agriculture) District, and
WHEREAS, an application has been filed to
amend Sectional District Map. No. 16-5-10 to rezone such
real property to the R2 (~ultiple Family Residence)District,
and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has given notice
of and duly held a public hearing on Amendment Application No.
791 to rezone such real property from the A1 District to the R2
District and has recommended approval of said application, and
WHEREAS, the City Council regularly held a public
hearing on said reclassification on published notice required
by law and does now find that the public necessity, convenience,
and general welfare require that said property be reclassified
from the A1 District to the R2 District, and that the new classi-
fication will not be detrimental to the surrounding property,
and
WHEREAS, prior to taking this action, the City
Council has reviewed and considered the information contained
in Negative Declaration No. 78-77, and, on the basis thereof,
finds that the project will not have a significant effect upon
the environment;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA ANA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: That the real property situated in
the City of Santa Aha, County of Orange, State of California,
generally located at 601 So. Newhope Street, and more particularly
described on Exhibit A, attached hereto and incorporated by
reference herein, is hereby reclassified from the A1 (General
Agriculture) District to the R2 (Multiple Family Residence)
District, and that Sectional District Map No. 16-5-10 is hereby
amended to show said reclassification in accordance with Exhibit
AA 791-A.

Being a portion of the S.W. Quarter of the N.E. Quarter of Section 16,
Township 5 South, Range 10 West.
Commencing at the center of said section (said center also being the
intersection of the centerlines of McFadden Avenue and Newhope Street);
thence, northerly along the centerline of Newhope Street a distance of
378.6'~ to the intersection of said centerline with the centerline of
Acapulco Avenue; said point of intersection also being the True Point
of Beginning; thence, continuing northerly along the centerline of
Newhope Street 215'~ to a point in said centerline; thence, easterly
along a line that is approximately perpendicular to the centerline of
Newhope Street, a distance of 660.75'± ; thence, southerly along a
line that is approximately parallel and 660'± east of the centerline
of Newhope Street, a distance of 192'~ ; thence, westerly along a
line that is approximately perpendicular to the centerline of Newhope
Street, a distance of 324'~ to the intersection of said line with the
northerly prolongation of the centerline of Mountain View Street;
thence, southerly along the northerly prolongation of said centerline
17'~ to the intersection of said centerline with the centerline of
Acapulco Avenue; thence, westerly along the centerline of Acapulco
Avenue a distance of 306.7'~ to the True Point of Beginning. Said
parcel containing 3.03~ acres.
