SPECIFICATIONS FOR HOTEL REGISTRATION REC/~RDS

AS FOLLOWS. ~
SECTION 1: That Section 35-135 of the Santa ~na Municipal
Code, is hereby amended to read as follows:

as nearly as can be determined in such register or on such
registration document opposite the name of such occupant or

(c) /The registration of guests shall be sequential
and erasures/or alterations of registration documents shall not
be made fo~/any purpose. Such register or all such
registrat~6n documents shall be kept in the office of the
operator/Where the same shall be open to inspection by any
police 9~ficer or tax collector of the City. All registers or
reglst[/ation documents shall be retained for a minimum period
of three years. It shall be the duty of every operator liable
for ~he collection and payment to the City of any tax imposed
by ~his Chapter to keep and preserve all records as may be
neg~ssary to determine the amount of such tax to be collected
a~d paid to the City,'which records the Executive Director of
~nance and Management Services or his designee shall have the

right to inspect at all reasonable times.
(d) No person shall register at any hotel in the

SECTION 2: If any section, subsection, sente clause,
phrase or portion of this ordinance is for reason held to
be invalid or unconstitutional by the deci of any court of
competent jurisdiction, such decision sh~ not affect the
validity of the remaining portions of ordinance. The City
Council of the City of Santa Ana herek. declares that it would
have adopted this ordinance and each ~ction, subsection,
sentence, clause, phrase or portion irrespective of the
fact that any one or more subsections, sentences,
clauses, phrases, or portions be ed invalid or
unconstitutional.
SECTION 3: Neither the adop of this Ordinance nor the
repeal hereby of any ordina shall in any manner affect the
prosecution for violation ordinances, which violations were
committed prior to the e date hereof, nor be construed
as affecting any of the ovisions of such ordinance relating
to the collection of such license or penalty or the penal
provision applicable any violation thereof, nor to affect
the validity of any or cash deposit in lieu
thereof,required t posted, filed or deposited pursuant to
any ordinance rights and obligations thereunder
