AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA
CALLING FOR A SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE
HELD IN THE CITY OF SANTA ANA TO FILL
A VACANCY IN THE OFFICE OF COUNCIL-
MEMBER FROM WARD 6.
WHEREAS, the office of Councilmember of the City of
Santa Ana from Ward 6 has become vacant due to the assumption
by the last incumbent therein of the office of Mayor; and
WHEREAS, the Charter of the City of Santa Ana directs
the City Council to call a special election to fill the vacancy;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
ANA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: A special election is hereby called to be held
in the City of Santa Ana, California, on April 4, 1989 to fill
the office of Councilmember of the City of Santa Ana from Ward
6 for the unexpired portion of the term of the last incumbent
thereof, as hereinafter specified.
SECTION 2: The said special election shall be conducted in
accordance with the Elections Code of the State of California,
and the Clerk of the Council is hereby authorized and directed
to take all actions necessary or appropriate with respect there-
to, except to the extent such actions may be undertaken by the
Registrar of Voters of the County of Orange. The Clerk of the
Council is further authorized to retain for the City of Santa
Ana the services of said Registrar of Voters with regard to
such actions upon such terms and for such compensation as said
Registrar of Voters shall establish in accordance with the
standard practices of the County of Orange.
