ORDINANCE NO. NS-2053
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA
RELATING TO THE SELECTION AND TRAINING
STANDARDS OF PUBLIC SAFETY DISPATCHERS
WHEREAS, the Police Department of the City of Santa
Ana has participated in State POST recruitment and training
programs and wishes to continue to do so; and
WHEREAS, State law has added the requirement that
each participating City adopt an ordinance making the commitment
to meet POST standards relating to the selection and training
standards for Public Safety Dispatchers; and
WHEREAS, to assure continued participation in POST
programming and financial support from the State, it is in the
best interests of the City to adopt this ordinance of compliance;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
ANA DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The City of Santa Ana desires to receive
aid from the State of California under the provisions of Chapter
1 of Title 4 of Part 4 of the California Penal Code.
SECTION 2: Pursuant to Penal Code section 13522, the
Santa Ana Police Department is hereby directed to adhere to the
standards adopted by the California Commission on Peace Officer
Standards and Training (POST) pursuant to Penal Code section
13510 while receiving such aid.
SECTION 3: Pursuant to Penal Code section 13512, the
Cctamission and its representatives may make such inquiries as
deemed appropriate by the Commission to ascertain that the Santa
Ana Police Department's Public Safety Dispatcher personnel
