HomeMy WebLinkAbout52-048 RESOLUTION NO. 52-48 RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA REQUESTING A GRANT I~ROM HIGI~VA¥ USERS T~ FUND ~OR RESURFACING DELHI ROAD ~, Section 2150 of the Streets and Highways Code grants authority to Counties, under certain conditions, to expend funds ap- portioned out of the California Highway Users Tax Fund to aid in the construction or improvement of streets within Cities that are deter- mined to be in the general County interest; and WHEREAS, the CITY OF SANTA ANA desires to pave Delhi Road from Main Street to ~ristol Street with paving forty feet in width, the north one-half of which paving would be within the limits of the CITY of SANTA ANA, a City of the Fifth Class in the County of Orange, State of California, and the South one-half of which paving would be in un- incorporated territory in the County of Orange, California; NOW, TI~EP~EFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Council of the City of Santa Aha hereby requests the County of Orange for a grant of aid out of said County's apportionment of the Highway Users Tax Fund in amount of Eorty-five Thousand Dollars ($45,000.00) to be used to aid said City in paving Delhi Road from Main Street to Bristol Street with a strip of paving forty feet wide, the north one-half of which paving would b,e in said City and the south one-half of which paving would be in said County, at an estimated cost of Fifty-two Thousand Eight Hundred Dollars ($52,800.00); BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange he and it is hereby requested to find that the pav- ing of Delhi Road in the manner herein set out is in the general County interest for the reason that it is an east and west artery in the central part of the County, one-half of which is a County Aoad in the center of a rapidly developing area which will increasingly be used for traffic moving from east to west in an area where there are presently, no good east - west traffic arteries; BE IT FUR~ RESOLVED: That by this Resolution, the City of Santa Aha agrees to pay all costs of such paving over and above Forty-five Thousand Dollars ($45,000.00) and that it is further agreed that upon acceptance of this request and said grant being made by the County, this Resolution, the Resolution of the Board of Super- visors making the grant and any and all laws applicable thereto, shall constitute the agreement between the County of Orange and the City of Santa Aha; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the City Clerk is hereby instruc- ted to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to the Board of Supervisors and a certified copy to Harold Springer, County Road Com- missioner.
