The foregoing prevailing wage schedules are based upon
a working day of eight (8) hours, and in the event that
laborers, workmen or mechanics are employed less than eight
(8) hours per day, the rate of per diem wages shall be deemed
to be that fraction of the foregoing rates that the number of
hours of employment bears to eight (8).
In accordance with the provisions of Section 1777.5 of
the Labor Code, as amended by Chapter 971, Statutes of 1939,
and in accordance with the regulations of the California
Apprenticeship council~ properly indentured apprentices may
be employed in the prosecution of the work.
The bidder must submit with his proposal a satisfactory
check certified by a responsible bank and payable to the order
of the City of Santa Ana~ or a bidder's bond, for an amount
not less than ten (10) per cent of the aggregate sum of the
bid, as a guarantee that the bidder will enter into the pro-
posed contract if the ss~e is awarded to him, and in event of
failure to enter into such contract said check or bond shall
become the property of the City°
The amount of the bond to be given to secure a faithful
performance of the contract fo~ said work shall be fifty (50)
per cent of the contract price ther,~of, and an additional bond
~ in an amount equal to fifty (50) pe~ cent of the contract price
for said work shall be given to secure the payment of claims
for any materials or supplies furnished for the performance
of the work contracted to be done by the Contractor, or any
work or labor of any kind done thorsen, and the Contractor will
also be required to furnish a certificate ~hat he carries com-
pensation insurance covering his employees uptn work to be done
under contract which may be entered into between him and the
said City for the construction of s~id work°

SPECIFICATION FOR RE-ROOFING
sANTA ANA CITY HALL
Scope of Work:
All composition roof areas excepting floor in tower are
to be re-roofed as-specified below.
Preparation:
Remove all blisters and rough or high spots in existing
roofing, which might in any manner affect the application or
efficiency of new roof. After above operations are completed,
thoroughly sweep entire roof area.
~aterials and Application:
1. Apply Johns-Manville or equal, Flexstone Standard
Asbestos Built-up Roof as follows:
First: Lay one thickness of Johns-~anville No. 45
Asphalt Saturated Asbestos Felt, lapping the sheets 2" and
nailing 6" centers through the laps and at 18" centers
through the longitudinal center of each sheet in two lines
spaced lC" apart, the nails to be staggered.
Second: Over the base felt, lay two plies of Johns-
Manville 15 lb. Asphalt Saturated Asbestos Felts, lapping
each sheet to provide 15" exposure, mopping the full width
under each with 30 lbs. Johns-Manville Asphalt per ply per
square.
Third: Coat entire surface uniformly with Johns-
Manville Asphalt (2o lbs. per square.)
2. Two ply Asbestos Base Flashing shall be installed at
all intersections of roofs and vertical surfaces, as per
manufacturer's specification.
3. Apply 3 course F~ashlng at s~l ws~ls, equal to
Johns-Manville Base and Asbestile System.
4. Coat inside and top surfaces of Parapet Walls with
Regal Roof Coating.
5. Install 26 ga. Galvanized Iron Drip Strips, at
edges of stair and elevator pent house roofs.
6. Issue 2 year standard r~.of maintalnance guarantee.
