A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA
REQUESTING THE INSTALLATION OF ELECTRICALLY OPERATED
TRAFFIC LIGHTS AT THE INTERSECTION OF FLOWER STREET AND
SANTA ANA BOULEVARD IN SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA
WN~REAS, heretofore there have been a great number of traffic
accidents in the intersection of Santa Aha Boulevard and Flower Street
and as a result thereof, numerous requests that something be done to
minimize the hamard at this intersection have been submitted to the
City Council; and
WHerEAS, within the last few months traffic accidents at said
intersection have resulted in thousands of dollars loss in property
damage, numerous accidents resulting in injury to persons who were
passengers of the vehicles involved, some of such injuries being very
serious personal injuries and in the actual loss of life; and
WHEREAS, it is the belief of this Council that the physical
condition now existing justifies immediate action and that the instal-
lation of electrically controlled traffic signals at such intersection
is desirable, warranted, and would be paid for many times over by the
savings that will result from reduction of accidents;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
That the Department of Public Works, Division of Highways
be and the same is hereby requested to provide for the immediate in-
stallation of electrically controlled traffic signals at the inter-
section of Flower Street and Santa Ana Boulevard in the City of Santa
Aha, 0alifornia and to maintain the same until the character of the
highway is changed to a freeway.
BE IT FURT~ RESOLVED: That the City Clerk is hereby instruc-
ted to send a certified copy of this Resolution to the Department of
Public Works, Division of Highways, 120 S. Spring Street, Los Angeles,
13, California.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa Aha
at its regular meeting held on the 15th day of September, 1952.
