SOUTH~iAIN STREET WID~INGAND DETER~NING THAT SAID
WORK BE DONE BY THE CITY
I~HEREAS, notice calling for bids for the widening of South
Main Street was regularly published and two bids were submitted,
each of which bids exceeded the Ehgineer's estimate by at least two
hundred per cent on Item No. 12 thereof; and
WHEREAS, said two bids were in other respects reasonable and
within ten per cent of the Engineer's estimate; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager has submitted his estimate that the
work involved in completing said Item No. 12 would not exceed $3800.00
if done by the City;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City hereby rejects
all bids received for the doin~ of the work involved in Item No. 12,
determines and declares that in the opinion of the City Council, based
on the estimate of the City Manager, the work may be performed better
and more economically by the City with its own employees end hereby
orders that the City Manager proceed to have
City employees.
