HomeMy WebLinkAbout53-080RESOLUTION NO. 5~-80 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA, C~LIFORNIA, DETERMINING THE GENERAL PREVAILING RATE OF PER DIEM WAGE AND THE GEN- ERAL PREVAILING RATE FOR LEGAL HOLIDAY AND OVERTINE WORK IN SAID CITY, FOR CERTAIN CRAFTS OR TYPES OF WORK~EN. WHEREAS, this City Council has by its Resolution No. 5~78 ordered certain work or improvement, said work or improvement being more particularly described in its Resolution No. 53-43 and shown on plans (which include profiles and detailed drawings) designated "Revised Plan No. 195," on file in the office of the Clerk of the Council of said city, and described in specifications designated "Revised Specifications No. 195," also on file in the office of said Clerk of the Council; and WHEREAS, this City Council has ascertained the general prevailing rate of per diem wages in the locality in which sai8 work is to be performed for each craft or type of workman needed to execute the contract for said work, and this City Council has ascertained the general prevailing rate for legal holiday and overtime work in said locality for each craft or type of workman needed to execute said contract; NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana, California, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DETERMINE AND ORDER as follows: Section 1. All other foremen not herein separately classified shall be paid not less than 12-1/2 cents per hour more than the Journeyman rate for the craft involved. APPRENTICES: Nay be employed in conformity with Section 1777.5 of the Labor Code. The general prevailing rates for overtime work in said locality for each craft or type of workman needed to execute said contract is determined to be as follows: CARPENTERS - Double time for all overtime. CENENT NASONS - Time and one-half for the first three hours after the regularly constituted straight time shift, and all other overtime shall be double time. WATCHMEN - Time and one-half for all time worked in excess of eight (8) hours per day and for the sixth consecutive day worked; and double time for the seventh consecutive day worked. Watchmen shall also receive time and one-half for holidays except where a holiday falls on the 7th consecutive day worked, which shall be double time. OPERATING ENGINEERS, LABORERS, TRUCK DRIV~S - Time and one-half except Sundays and Holidays which are double time° ALL OTHER CRAFTS AND TYPES OF WORK~EN - Not less than one and one-half (l-l/2) times the said prevailing hourly rate of wage. Except as otherwise provided herein, said rates are determined to be the general prevailing rate for working time on Sundays and the following seven legal holidays, to wit: New Year~s Day, Decoration Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Armistice Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. If any of the above named holidays occur on Sunday, the Nonday next succeeding shall be considered a legal holiday. Section 2. Said general prevailing rates shall be specified in the call for bids for said contract and in the contract itself. ADOPTED, SIGNED AND APPROVED this 1st day of June , 1953.
