That the Clerk of the Council is hereby authorized and
directed to advertise as required .by law for the receipt of
sealed bids or proposals for the doing of the work specified
in those certain Plans and Specifications adopted the 3rd

The foregoing prevailing wage schedules are based upon a working
day of eight (8) hours, and in the event that laborers~ workmen, or
mechanics are employed less than eight (8) houms Der day, the rate
of per diem wagcs shall be dee~ed to be that fraction of the fore-
going rates that the number of bouts.of omDloyment bears to eight (8).
In accordance with the provisions of Section 1777.5 of the Labor
Code as amended by Cha~ter 971, Statutes of 19~9, and in accordance
with the regulations of the California ^Dprenticeship Council, properly
indentured apprentices may be employed in the prosecution of the work.
The. bidd~ must submit with his Oroposal a satisfactory check
certified by a responsible bank and payable to the order of the City
of Santa Ara, or a bidder's bonO, for an~amount not less than ten
(10) per cent of the agaregate sum of th& b~d, as a guarantee that
the bidder will enter into the proposed contract if t~e same is
awarded to him, and In event of failure to enter into such contract
said check or bo~d shall become the proDerty of the City.
The amount of the bond to be t~lven to secure a faithful oerfor-
mance of the contract for said ~ork shall be fifty (50) net cent of
the co~tract ~rice thereof, and an additional bond in an amount
equal to fifty (8~) ~er cent o£ the co~tract ~rice for said work shall
be given to secure the payment of claims for any materiels or supplies
furnished for the performance of the work contracted to be.done by the
Contuactor, or any work or labor of any kind do/~e thereon, and the
Contractor will also be required to furnish a certificate that he
carries compensation insurance coverin~ his employees uDon work to be
done ,nder contract which mmy be entered into between him and the
said City for the construction of said work.
No bid will be acceDted f?o~n ~ C~xtractor who is not licensed in
accordance with the provisions of the Contractor's License Act, or
to whom a Droposal form has not been issued by the Director of Public
Works.
The Work is to be'done in accordance with the profiles, plans and
specifications of the City of Santa Ara on file ~n the office of the
]~rector of Public ~orks, Room 201, of the City Hall of Santa Ama,
California. Copies of the ~la~s and specifications will be furnished
u:~on application to the Dtrecto~ of Public ~orks for which a charge
of ~,00 ~lll be required. T~e char.:.o will not be refunded.
