THE CANVASS OF ELECTION RETURNS OF THE SPECIAL BOND ELECTION
AND THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF
SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA ON APRIL 12TH, 1955-
WHEREAS, the City Council, by Ordinance NS-88 and NS-90 duly called and
provided for the holding of a General Municipal Election and a Special Bond Election
to fill offices and submit to the voters the proposition set forth in said Ordinance
NS-90 to be held in the City of Santa Aha on April 12, 1955; and
WHEREAS, notice of said elections was duly and regularly given in time~
form and manner as provided by law, and said election was on said date duly held at
the polling places designated and the votes cast thereat were canvassed and the re-
turns thereof made at the time and in the manner and form provided by law; and
WHEItEAS, on this 20th day of April, 1955, said City Council has duly
assembled at its usual place of meeting and has canvassed the returns of said election;
NOW~ THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana DOES ~EREBY
RESOLVE, DETERMINE AND ORDER as follows:
That said General Municipal Election and said Special Bond Election
were, in all respects, duly held on April 12, 1955, and the votes cast thereat
were duly and regularly canvassed and the returns thereof made at the time and in
the form and manner required by law.
That the absent voter ballots have been duly canvassed and counted as
required by law, and the result of such count is hereinafter stated. That this
City Council has duly canvassed the returns of said election and from said returns
it appears, and this City Council finds, tD~t the total number of votes cast in
each precinct for each person and for and against said proposition, the number of
votes given in the City to each person, and for and against said proposition, the
whole number of votes cast in the City, and the total number of absentee votes
cast in said City, and in consolidated voting precinct number 49, which consisted
of that portion of the Santa Aha High School District lying outside the City of
Santa Ana, are as follows:

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED~ THEREFORE: That at said General Municipal
Election DALE H. HEINLY, residing in Ward Two, and J. OGDEN MARKEL, residing
in Ward Four~ were elected to the office of member of the City Council for
a term of four years; and
THAT, GECkO{GE A. KING and C. B. KNICKERBOCKER were elected to the
office of member of the Board of Education for the terms of four years and
DON HAYDEN was elected to the office of member of the Board of Education for
the term of two years; and
That the proposition to incur bonded indebtedness voted on at said
Special Bond Election was not approved by two-thirds of the voters voting
thereon.
PASSED AND ADOI~I'ED by the City Council of the City of Santa Ana
at an adjourned regular meeting of said City Council held on the 20th day
of April, 1955, for the purpose of canvassing the returns of said elections.

THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA command you
to attend an adjourned meeting of said CITY COUNCIL to be held in
the Council Chambers, on the third floor of the City Hall located
at the southeast corner of Third and Main Streets in the City of
Santa Ana, California, on w~D~rm.~v , the 20th day of April,
1955 at the hour of 5:30 o'clock P. M. of said day, ~o then and there
be examined under oat~nce~ning the manner in which the votes were
counted in your precinct and to open the envelop containing the
ballots and retally them for the Special Bond Election.
This SUBPOENA is given under authority of the Charter of
the City of S~nta Ana and Section 7929 of the Election Code of the
State of California and is addressed to you asa member of the
Election Board of Consolidated Precinct No. 2.
