TO COMMENCEMENT 0F--~0CEEDINGS FOR
'ANNEXATION OF INHABITED TERRITORY
WHEREAS, residents, who are proponents for the a~nexation of
certain territory, have requested by petition, the City Council to
give its consent to the commencement of annexation proceedings pur-
suant to the Annexation Act of 1913, in connection with territory
lying Northeasterly of the City of Santa Ana; and
~HEREAS, it appears that said terri~cory can be best and most
economically served by the City of Santa Ana, and that annexation
to said City would increase property values in the area to a
greater~ex~nt than incorporation or a~nexation to any other City;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA ANA: That the City Council hereby gives and empresses
its consent to the commencement of annexation proceedings, the
submission of the description of the area to the Orange County
Boundaries Commission, publication of no'tice of intention to cir-
culate petition for annexation, the circulation of petition for
annexation, and any and all other steps necessary to afford the
residents and p?operty o~ners in the area an opportunity for annex- ·
ation to the City of Santa Ana.
The territory covered by this consent lies in the County of
Orange, State of California, and is described as:
Beginning at the point of intersection of the center line
of Santiago Avenue with t he North line of Section 6, Tomu-
ship 5 South, Range 9 West, San Bernardino Base & Meridian,
said point being an angle point in the City boundary of
the City of Santa Aha, California; running thence southerly
along ssid center line of Santiago Avenue, and al ong said
City boundary to an angle point in said City boundary;
thence easterly along said City boundary to an angle point
in said City boundary; thence southerly along said. City
boundary to the center line of Santa Clara Avenue; thence
easterly along said center line of S~ta Clara Avenue, and
along said City boundary to the center line of Wright Street,
and to sa angle point in said City boundary; thence southerly
along said City boundary and along said center line of
Wright Street to an angle point in said City boundary;
thence easterly along said City boundary to an angle point
in ssid City boundary; thence southerly along said City
boundary to the center line of Seventeenth Street; thence
easterly along said center line of Seventeenth Street to
its intersection wi~h the center line of Mabury Street
and to an angle point in said City boundary; thence northerly
along the northerly extension cf said center line of Mabury
Street to the North line of Seventeenth Street, said North
line being 40.00 feet North cf the center line of Seventeenth
Street; thence easterly along said North line of Seventeenth
Street to the East line of the new alignment of Tustin Avenue
(80 feet wide) as it exists immediately North of Seventeenth
Street; thence southerly along said East line of Tustin Avenue
to the North line 'of Seventeenth Street, said North line be-
ing 25 feet North of the center line of Seventeenth Street;
thence easterly along said North line of Seventeenth Street
to its intersection with the northerly extension cf the East
line of Tustin Avenue as it exists South of Seventeenth
Street, said East line of Tustin Avenue being 50.00 feet
East of the center line of Tustin Avenue; thence southerly
along said northerly extension of said East line of Tusttn
Avenue to the South line of Seventeenth Street 50.00 feet
wide; thence easterly along s~ d South line of Seventeenth
Street to the East line of the West 10.00 Acres of Lot 5 of
the Felipe Yorba Tract as said tract is shown on a map cf
the partition of the R~cho Santiago de Santa Ana; thence
southerly along said East line and along the East line of the
West half of Lots 4, 3 and 2 of said Felipe Yorba Tract to
the South line of said Lot 2; thence easterly along said
South line of Lot 2 of the FelipeYorba Tract and its east-
erly extension to the West line of Prospect Avenue (50 feet
wide); thence northerly along said West line of Prospect Avenue
to the ~esterly extension of the South line of Tract No. 2020
as shown on a map thereof recorded in Book 71, pages 46 and
47, Miscellaneous Maps, records of Orange County; thence
easterly along said westerly extension and along the South
line of said Tract No. 2020 to the Southeast corner of said
Tract No. 2020; thence southerly along the southerly exten-
sion of the East line of said Tract No. 2020~to the North
line of Tract No. 2407 as shown on a map thereof recorded
in Book 66, Pages 48 and 49, Miscellaneous Maps, Records
of Orange County; thence easterly along the North line of
said Tract No. 2407 and along the North line of Tract No.
1549 as shown on a map thereof recorded in Book 54, Page
23, Miscellaneous Maps of Orange County, and along the North
line and its easterly extension of Tract No. 1578 as shown
on a m~p thereof recorded in Book 46, Page 28, Miscellan-
eous Maps, records of said Orange County, to the East line
of Holt Avenue (80 feet wide); thence northerly along said
East line of Holt Avenue to the southerly line of Warren
Avenue (66 feet wide); thence easterly along said southerly
line of Warren Avenue to the Northwesterly line of Newport
Avenue (60 feet wide); thence northeasterly along the north-
westerly line of Newport Avenue to the easterly extension of
a line parallel with and 25.00 feet southerly (measured at
right angles) from the center line of Seventeenth Street;
thence westerly along said easterly extension of said par-
allel line a~d along said parallel line to the southerly
extension of the westerly line of the Southern Pacific Rail-
road right-of-way near Esplanade Avenue; thence northerly
along said southerly extension and along said West line of
said Railroad to the southerly line of Fairhaven Avenue;
thence easterly along said southerly line of Fairhaven
Avenue to the southerly extension of the easterly line of
Esplanade Avenue (60 feet wide); thence northerly along
said easterly line of Esplanade Avenue to the southeasterly
prolongation of that certain south line of Tract No. 1059,
as shown on a map thereof recorded in Book 34, Page 25,
Miscellaneous Maps,ARecords of Orange County, having a
bearing of North 50v 30' 30" West; thence along samd South
line and along the southerly boundary of Tract No. 1059 to

the South line of La Veta Avenue; thence ~l ong said south-
erly line of La Veta Avenue and its extensions to the East
line of Tustin Avenue, said East line being 50 feet East
of t~e center llne of Tustin Avenue; thence southerly al ong
said East line of Tustin Avenue to the South line of Lot 12,
Block "~", of the A. B. Chapman Tract, in the County of Orange,
State of California, as shown on a map by Frank Lecouvreur
made in December, 1870; thence westerly along said South line
of Lot 12 and its westerly prolongation and the South lines
and their extension of Lots 9, l0 and ll in Block "D" of
said A. B. Chapman Tract, and along the North line of Lot
13 in said Block "D" to an angle point in the City boundar~
of the City of Orange; thence South along the East boundary
line of the City of Orange to an angle point in said bound-

said boundary to the West line of Glassell Street (66 feet
wide); thence seutherly along said West line of Glassell
Street to the North line of Fairhaven Avenue (50 feet wide);

point of intersection with the northeasterly extension of

said corner being in the East line of Santiago Avenue

Santiago Avenue to its intersection with the North line
