TO PUBLISH NOTICE INVITING SEALED PHOPOSALS FOR THE BONDS
OF VEHICLE PARKING DISTRICT NO. I OF THE CITY OF S~TA ANA
WHEREAS, certain unpaid assessments against eighteen separate
parcels of land in Vehicle Parking District No. i of the City of Santa
Aha have been certified to and filed by the Director of Finance, and
an Ordinance to provide for the issuance of bonds to cover said assess-
ments has been introduced, considered and passed to second reading;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ORDERED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That said bonds in amount of $58,491.28, be sold
to the highest responsible bidder for cash, and that sealed bids or
proposals for the purchase of said bonds shall be received up to the
time stated in the notice made a part hereof.
Section 2. That the Clerk of the Council is hereby directed
to publish said notice by giving the same two publications in The
Santa Ana ReEister, a newspaperiof general circulation in said City,
the first publication to be at least ten (10) days before the 16th
day of September,

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that sealed proposals for the purchase
of eighteen bonds in different.amounts as hereinbelow set out, in
the total amount of $58,491.28, will be received by the City Council
up to the hour of 7:30 O'clock P.M., California Daylight Saving
Time, on Monday, September 16, 1957, a regular meeting of said City
Council, and the time and place of opening said proposals. Said
regular meeting will be held in the Council Chambers, in the City
Hall, Third and Main Streets, Santa Ana, California.

A Total or $58,491.28
Said Bonds bear interest at the rate of 6% per annum, payable
semiannually; the principal is payable in ten (10) annual install-
ments, both principal and interest payable in lawful money ~ the
United States at the office of the City Treasurer, in the City Hall,
Santa Ana, California.

Said Bonds are callable upon the payment of 3% of the prin-
cipal then due, and are snthorized to provide a parking lot under
the provisions of the Vehicle Parking District Law of 1943, Division
18 of the Streets and Highways Code of Califorr~ia.
Said Bonds are secured by and constitute a lien upon individual
parcels of real property located in ssid Parking District which is
located in the Northeast quarter of the Central Business District in
ssi d City and is bounded by Main Street, on t~e West, Seventh Street
on the North, Spurgeon Street on the East and Fourth Street on the
South, and are pa~able exclusively f~om the assessments assessed
against the particular parcel against which said Bond is a lien.
Each Bond will be sold for cash, and for not less than the
amount of the assessments represented by the Bond. Each bidder
his proposal
shall state/in teens of a net bid. Bonds will be awarded to the
highest responsible bidder or bidders. The highest bid will be de-
termined by deducting the amount of the principal of the bond from
the bid amount to determine the premium bid (if any) and the highest
premium bid will be determined to be the highest bid.
The City reserves the right, iR its discretion, to reject any
and all bids and to the extent not prohibited by law to waive any
irregularity or informality in any bid.
Said Bonds will be delivered ~.t the office of the City Treas-
urer~ City Hall, Santa Ana, Califor~%ia.
Each proposal shall be accompanied by a certified or cashier's
check o~ a resDonsible bank or trust co~pany in amount of 3% of the
principal amount of the pI'oposal, payable to the order of the City
as a guaranty that the bidder, if successful, will accept and pay
for said Bonds when the City shsll tender them f Or delivery. The
proceeds of the check accompanying any accepted proposal shall be
applied to the purchase 'price or, if such proposal is accepted and
not performed, unless such fsilure to perfoEn shall be caused by
an act or omission of the City, shall then be retained by the City.
The check accompanying each unaccepted proposs1 ~ill be returned
promptly.
The successful bidder shall have the right, at his option,
to cancel the contract to purchase if the City shall fail to execute
and tender the Bonds for delivery within thirty days from date of
sale and shall, in that event, be entitled to return of the deposit
accompanying his bid.
Each proposal, together with the bid check, must be in a
sealed envelope, addressed to the City with the envelope and pro-
posal clearly marked,
"Proposal for City of Santa Ana
Vehicle Parking District No. I Bonds"
At the time of p~yment for the delivery of said Bonds
