INTENTION TO VACATE A PORTION OF VAN NESS AVENUE
BETWEEN SIXTH AND EIGHTH STREETS AND FIXING TIME
AND PLACE FOR HEARING THEREON
WHEREAS, after study, the Planning Commission and the Director
of Public Works have recommended vacation of that portion of Van Ness
Avenue heretnbelow described, and the City Council, after study, has
concluded that the s~e may be unnecessary for present or prospective
street purposes and has caused a map thereof to be prepared;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the map attached hereto
marked'tExhibit A" is hereby approved, adopted, and ordered filed
with and as a part of this Resolution in the office of the Cle~ of
the Council, and reference is hereby nade to said map for particu-
lars and exact details as to this proposed street vacation, and the
City Council hereby dec lares its intention to vacate, abandon and
close up as a public street that portion of Van Ness Avenue in the
City of Santa Aha, County of Orange, State of California, described
as:
All of V~ Ness Avenue bounded on the North by the South
line of Eighth Street and bounded on t~he South by the
North line of Sixth Street,
and said City Council hereby declares its intention to tear up and
physically remove all sidewalks, curbs, gutters, paving, above-ground
utility poles and structures,
within said area.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED:
and all trees and shrubs now existing
That the 7th day of October, 1957, at
the hour of 7:30 o'clock P.M. on s~d day, in the Council Chambers
in the City H~l, 3rd and !~ain Streets, in the City of Santa Ana,
California, is hereby fixed as the time and place for hearing all
persons interested in or objecting to the proposed vacation of a
portion of Van Ness Avenue; that the City Council hereby declares
its intention to proceed with this street vacation under the pro-
visions of the Street Vacation Act of 1941, Part 3, Division 9, of
the Streets and Hi~*~hways Code of the State of California; and
That the Clerk of the Council is hereby ordered to publish
this Resolution in the manner prescribed by law for the publishing of
Ordinances of the City, and the Director of Public Works is hereby
ordered to post conspicuously along the lines of said portion of Van
Ness Avenue herein proposed to be vacated, at least l0 days before
the date of said hearing, notices stating the passage of this Resolu-
tion of Intention and the time and place of hearing; such notices
shall be posted not more than 300 feet apart and at least 3 shall
be posted along said street here~n proposed to be vacated.
PASSED ~ND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa
Ana at its regular meeting held on the 16th day of September, 19~57.
