RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL GF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA REQUESTING THE COUNTY OF
GRANGE TO INCLUDE YdITHIN THE ARTERIAL HIGHWAY FINANCING PROGRAM THE DEVELOP-
MENT GF FIFTH STREET
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana desires to improve Fifth Street from the
Pacific Electric Railroad Tracks to West City Limits, and
WHEREAS, Fifth Street is an impmrtant artery in the County of Orange and
of general County interest, and
YYHEREAS, Article 2 and Article 3, Chapter 9, Division 2 of the Streets and
Highways Code authorizes a County, if it so desires, to expend funds apportioned
to it out of the California Highway Users Tax Fund for aid to any City in the improve-
ment, construction or repair of a street within a City, and
WHEREAS, the Hoard of Supervisors intends to, by appropriate action, provide in
the County budget of the Special Road Improvement Fund for the Fiscal Year 1959-1960,
a sum of money for the improvement of streets within the incorporated cities of the
County in accordance with the Orange County Arterial Highway Financing Program.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby
requests the Board of Supervisors of the County of Grange to allocate to said City from
County Funds the amount of $35,500,00, said amount to be matched by funds from said
City, to be used to aid said City in the improvement of Fifth Street from the Pacific
Electric Railroad tracks to West City Limits; said improvements to be in accordance
with the attached project statement,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange is
hereby requested to find that said work on Fifth Street, in the manner provided, is in
the general County interest.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, by this Resolution, the City of Santa Ana agrees
with the basic concepts of the Arterial Highways Financing Program; and further agrees
that its share of the cost of dnmprovements and rights of way will be available for the
fiscal year 1959-1960,
