HomeMy WebLinkAbout59-284.< RESOLUTION NO. 59-284 FAVORING THE LOCATION OF A BRANCH OF THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA IN ORANGE COUNTY WHEREAS, the population of Southern California is increasing at an unprecedented rate, and the population center of the Los Angeles metropolitan complex is rapidly shifting to the south of the City of Los Angeles so that the center of this population com- plex will be located in the southeast part of Santa Aha, California before the year 2000; and WHEREAS, Orange County presently affords areas ideally suited to the location of a University Branch, properly planned for the future rather than a temporary, short-term, stop-gap facility, be- cause of the availability of large acreage and adequate area for future expansion and continued operation; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby respectfully urges the Regents of the University of California to select a site for a Branch University in the County of Orange, and confidently declares that this County offers advantages as a site location which cannot elsewhere be equaled.
