SPECIAL ELECTION N--~AT CERTAIN TERRITORY HEREIN
DESIGNATED "SOUTH SANTA ANA ANNEX NO. 2" TO SUBMIT THE
QUESTION OF ANNEXATION TO THE CITY OF SANTA ANA TO THE
ELECTORS RESIDING IN SAID T~.'MRITORY, AND GIVING NOTICE
OF THE DAY, HOUR AND PLACE FOR PROPERTY OWNERS TO SHOW
CAUSE WHY SAID TERRITORY SHOULD NO~ BE ANNEXED
WHEREAS, heretofore at the request of residents and property
owners within the area hereinbelow described, and after approval
and recommendation favoring said annexation from t~e Santa Ana Plan-
ning Commission, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana adopted
a Resolution, No. 59-278~ giving consent to the commencement of
proceedings under the Annexation Act of 1913; and
WHEREAS, thereafter the proponents of said annexation published
notice of intent to circulate petition for said annexation and
accompanying statement, and fi]ed a copy of said notice and statement
of reasons together with the affidavit of publication thereof, with
said City Council,' and s~f d City Council adopted Resolution No.
59-279 which, among other things approved circulation of a petition
for annexation of said area to the City of Sa~ ta Ana; and
WHEREAS, thereafter said petition was duly circulated and
filed with the Clerk of the Council and examined by said Clerk, and
by the County Clerk of Orange County, California, and the voters'
records have been examined and certifications of said two Clerks
have been received and filed, certifying that said petition repre-
sents more tha~ one-fourth of the qualified electors residing
within said territory as snown by the County registration of voters.
NOW, THEREFORE, ~E IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of the
City of Santa Ana hereby finds that said petition requesting annex-
ation of the territory hereinbelow described is signed by more tnan
one-fourth of said qualified electors residing within said terri-
tory; and

an appropriate name by which said territory may be referred to
upon the ballots used in said election.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: Tnat the 18th day of January, 1960,
at the hour of 7:30 P.M., in the Council Chambers of the City Hall
at the Southeast comer of 3rd and Main Streets in Santa ADA, Cali-
fornia, is hereby designated as the day, hour and place ~here any
person owning real property within said territory may appear before
this legislative body, and show cause why said territory should not
be annexed to the City of Santa Ana. At any time not later than
said day and hour any owner of real property within said territory
may make written protest against said election. Such protest shall
state the name of the owner of the property affected and the street
address or other description of the property sufficient to identify
it on the last equalized assessment roll, as provided for by Section
35120 of the Government Code of the State of California.
