HomeMy WebLinkAbout64-164RESOLUTION 64-164 ORDERING THAT ORDINANCE NS-743 SHALL BE SUBMITTED TO THE ELECTORS OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AT THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON APRIL 6, 1965, TO ALLOW SAID ELECTORS TO VOTE ON THE QUESTION RAISED BY REFERENDUM PETITION AS TO WHETHER OR NOT SAID ORDINANCE NS-743 SHALL BECOME EFFECTIVE WHEREAS, the Santa Ana City Council adopted Ordinance NS-743 on August 3, 1964, and thereafter a referendum petition signed by more than 1~ of the registered electors of the City was filed with the Clerk of the Council requiring said City Council to entirely repeal said Ordinance or submit the same to the voters at a regular or special election; and WHEREAS, said Ordinance may not become effective until a majority of the voters voting on said Ordinance vote in favor of it. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council hereby orders that said Ordinance be submitted to the electors of the City of Santa Ana, California, at the General Municipal Election to be held on April 6, 1965, by placing a proposition upon the ballot in words and figures, as follows: Shall Ordinance NS-743 changing territory therein described from the R-1 (Single Family Residence District) to the R-4 (Suburban Apartment District) be adopted to become effective in the City of Santa Ana? : YES : : : NO : : BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That said proposition is submitted to the voters as provided for in §4052 of the Elections Code of the State of California to determine whether or not said voters desire Ordinance NS-743, against which a proper referendum petition has been filed, to become effective. If a majority of the voters voting on said Ordinance vote in favor of it, that is, stamp an X in the box next to the word "YES" to the right of said proposition, then said Ordinance shall go into effect; and if a majority of such voters stamp an X in the box next to the word "NO" to the right of said proposition, then said Ordinance shall not become effective and the R-1 zoning on the land described in said Ordinance shall remain in full force and effect.
