The Board of Trustees of the City of Santa Aha, do ordain a~ follows: Section 1. It shall be unlawful for any person to drive through or under or to pass through or under any railroad ~ato cbnstruct~d and used by any railroad oo=~any across any street of said City for the yurpose of warnin~ ,~,~rscns of tho. approach of a train, while s~fd ;aze is in motion, or while said gate is closed down and the same is hereby declared to be a misdemeanor. S$7~ion 2. Any p~rson, firm or corporation operating s railroad Eats across any street of said aity, for the ?urlose of warning persons of the approach of the train, shall not allow said gate to he closed down exceedfnE zen minutes and the violation of this Se~tion is hereby deolars2 ~o hsa misdemeanor. S~tion 5. Any person, firm or cor!~oration who shall violate any of deen:ed guilty of a misdemeanor and. upon conviction thereof shall. ~e punished by a fine not excsedinz ~ffty (~50) Dollars or by imprisonment for not more than Twenty-five (~5) days, or ~y both such fine and in.?risonment at tho discrstffon of th.s Court. The polls must be opened at 8 o'clock a.m. Of the ~orninj of the day of the election and must be kei~t open until 8 o'~clock p.m. of the evening of the same day, when the Dolls shall be closed. The 0ity Clerk shall ccuse to be printed, on plain white paper, without w~ter mark, at leaat as msuy copies of the fo~ of b~llot ~rovided for use i~ each ~otin~ precinct as there shall be registered voters in such precinct. Such copy shall be des~Enated "Safe,Die Ballot" upon the face thereof, a~d sh~ll commence to be sent by mail, postaEe ~repaid, to registered voters ~¥ such C~ty Clsrk, ten days b~fo~e the day fixed by law for s~h elect~on, and shell h~ve all of them mailed at lea~t fiv~ whole day~ before the day of election; provided that not more than one sample ballot shall be furnished to any one voter. The Oity ~erk shall cause to be printed in large clear type on cards, instructions for the guidance of electors in obtaining and markin~ their ballots. He shall furnish one such card to every registered voter at the same time and in the same manner that he mailed the sample ballot as hereinbefore set forth; and twelve such cards to the Board of glection ~u each election precinct in said City, at the same time and in the same manner as the printed ballot and sample ballot. The Board of ~lectton shall post at least one of such cards in each booth or compartment provided for the ~reparatiou of ballots and not less than three of such cards at other places in ~nd about the ~ot!ing places on the day of election. Sections 1El4 and 1S15 and section 61 of the Pe~al Code each of said cards. The ballots to be used at as follows: "Shall the Proposed Oharter be Adopted" of th~ Political Code shall also be printed on maid election shall read Yea All those voters who shall stamp a cross X after the ~rinted word "Yes" shall be understood as voting in favor of the ratification of the proposed charter, and all those voters who shall stamp a cross X after the printed word,"No" shall be understood as voting against the rati- fication of the proposed charter. Section ~, ~oti~e of said election containing the proposition to vote for or against the proposed charter for said City, the names of the Ins~ectors, judges, clerks, and ballot clerks constituting the boards of election, the time of opening and clos!n~ the ?oles ~nd the polling ~lace s shall be given by the 0tty 0lark as required by law and publish said Notice once a day for at least ten days preceding the ~y of said election in the "~anta Ana Daily ~venin~ Register", a newspaper ~ublished six times Der week and generally circulated in said Oity as often as said newspaper is printed. Section ~. All Ordinances in conflict with this Ordinance are hereby repealed. Section ~. The Oity olerk shall cause this Ordinance to be published five times in the "Santa Aha Daily ~vening Recister", a newspaper published and generally ciroulated in said City, and thereupon effect and be in force. ~ The above ordinance was. and thereafter it shall take passed and adopted this 18th day of December,1912, by the following vote,to-wit: Ayes, Trustees Alderman, McPhee, Greenleaf, Grubb and Ey.
