HomeMy WebLinkAbout62-113RESOLUTION NO. 62-113 ESTABLISHING POLICY OF THE CITY COUNCIL ON USES IN THE AREA SURROUNDING THE CIVIC CENTER WHEREAS, the Civic Center area has now been established as bounded by Sixth, Sycamore, Eighth and Flower Streets and having adjacent civic uses on the Easterly side of Sycamore Street and on the Westerly side of Flower Street, and increasing numbers of inquiries or requests regarding zone changes and variances are being received regarding property facing said Civic Center area or located in the area peripheral thereto. Wherefore, the City Council believes the statement of policy affecting these surrounding areas should be made. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: By the City Council of the City of Santa Ana that said Council believes the integrity of the Civic Center area should be maintained; that all requests for variances or changes of zone should be examined to first determine that the proposed new use will be compatible with the development of the entire area; that said area surrounding the Civic Center hasas~/tshighest and best use the location of office buildings and similar uses; that the commercial uses of wholesale and retail trade or mechanical services are not generally compatible and generally would not be the highest type use facing or adjacent to the Civic Center area as now established. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa Aha at its regular meeting held on the 18th day of June, 1962.
